The Papandayan Jazz Fest (TPJF) 2026 has officially announced its final line-up for its 11th edition, set to take place on October 3–4, 2026, at The Papandayan Bandung. Carrying this year’s theme, “Sound to the Soul,” the festival presents a carefully curated program that reinforces its commitment to jazz while embracing cross-generational collaborations, cultural exchanges, and fresh musical explorations.
As one of Indonesia’s longest-running jazz festivals, TPJF continues to evolve without losing sight of its roots. This year, approximately 70 percent of the festival’s programming is built around jazz and its contemporary expressions, reflecting TPJF’s ongoing mission to nurture jazz culture while making it more accessible to broader audiences.
Exclusive Projects Take Center Stage
Among this year’s highlights is A Night of Frank Sinatra, a special production led by acclaimed pianist and composer Dwiki Dharmawan, joined by Dira Sugandi, Dirly Dave, and the Bandung Jazz Orchestra. The project revisits the timeless repertoire of Frank Sinatra through contemporary arrangements and orchestral interpretations.
Another major attraction is Tribute to Koes Plus by The Gentlemen’s Club, featuring Adikara, Bilal Indrajaya, and Teza Sumendra. The project offers a fresh perspective on one of Indonesia’s most influential musical legacies, bridging classic songs with contemporary sensibilities.
TPJF 2026 will also present Freedom Jazz Society, one of the festival’s most anticipated experimental projects. Bringing together Greybox, Jevin Julian, Kenny Gabriel, and Winky Wiryawan, alongside vocalist Rinni, the project explores the intersection of DJ culture, electronic music, and jazz improvisation—demonstrating how jazz continues to evolve across creative boundaries.
A Festival Built Around Distinct Musical Experiences
The festival’s programming is spread across multiple stages, each designed with its own artistic identity.
The Kota Baru Parahyangan Stage (Suagi Grand Ballroom - The Papandayan) will host headline performances from Ruth Sahanaya, Diskoria feat. Andien, Mahalini, and the festival’s flagship collaborative projects.
At the BRI Stage (HuruBatu Grill Garden), audiences can enjoy a blend of contemporary jazz, soul, funk, and fusion through performances by Andre Dinuth Group feat. Matthew Sayersz, Ambon Jazz Rock by Barry Likumahuwa, Batavia Collective, Rieka Roslan feat. Lalahuta, Rafi Sudirman, and T-Five x Melly Mono.
The RON88 Stage (Cimanuk Ballroom) offers a more adventurous musical experience, featuring respected jazz and fusion acts including SimakDialog, Arumtala, 5 Petani, Reyharp feat. Balawan Project, and Barry Likumahuwa feat. TPJC Collective.
As part of TPJF’s commitment to talent development, the TP Stage will feature educational sessions and performances from emerging artists, including masterclasses by Sri Hanuraga and Tommy Pratomo, alongside performances by Yonathan Godjali Quartet, Funky Journal, Dadaks, SND, and other rising talents.
Celebrating Culture Beyond Music
This year’s festival also expands its cultural dimension through the Mojang Jajaka Stage, located within the Tropical Garden area. Developed in collaboration with the Bandung Office of Culture and Tourism and Mojang Jajaka Kota Bandung, the stage presents a series of performances that highlight local traditions, community arts, and contemporary cultural expressions.
Featured programs include Barong Bekasi by Abang Mpok Kota Bekasi, Galumbira – Panen Durcing Raharja, Swara Katresna, Ranggaswara Group, and the collaborative performance Ki Dalang Anom x Swara Katresna.
Beyond the Stages: Pasar Jazz
Complementing the musical experience is Pasar Jazz, TPJF’s creative marketplace and community hub. Located in the parking area of The Papandayan Bandung, Pasar Jazz will feature community activities, performances by university jazz ensembles, and dozens of curated tenants offering culinary experiences, fashion, lifestyle products, music merchandise, and musical instruments.
The initiative reflects TPJF’s broader commitment to supporting Indonesia’s creative economy while creating a vibrant festival environment where music, culture, and community intersect.
Sound to the Soul
More than a festival theme, “Sound to the Soul” reflects TPJF’s belief in music as a universal language capable of creating emotional connections, inspiring new perspectives, and bringing people together.
As it enters its second decade, The Papandayan Jazz Fest continues to position itself not only as a stage for performances, but as a platform where jazz, creativity, culture, and collaboration can thrive together.
