Christopher Nolan returns to the big screen with The Odyssey, an epic adaptation of Homer's legendary tale that officially premieres in Indonesian IMAX theatres on 15 July 2026. Bringing one of history's most influential literary works to modern audiences, the film combines Nolan's signature storytelling with groundbreaking filmmaking technology for an immersive cinematic experience.
Inspired by the ancient Greek epic, The Odyssey follows the long and perilous journey of Odysseus as he struggles to return home to Ithaca after the Trojan War. While the story has inspired countless works over the centuries, this marks its first modern blockbuster adaptation.
Shot across six countries—Morocco, Greece, Italy, Iceland, Scotland, and the United States—the production is also the first feature film ever captured entirely using IMAX film cameras. The format allows for exceptional image quality and an expansive visual scale, offering audiences an even more immersive experience on the big screen.
The film boasts an impressive ensemble cast led by Matt Damon as Odysseus, alongside Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong'o, Zendaya, Charlize Theron, Samantha Morton, John Leguizamo, and many other acclaimed actors.
Exclusive IMAX Collectible Pins Available in Bandung
To celebrate the release, Universal Pictures is introducing four limited-edition collectible pins inspired by iconic elements from The Odyssey. Moviegoers who purchase two IMAX tickets during the promotional period can join a lucky draw for a chance to receive one exclusive pin, while stocks last.
Bandung audiences can participate in the promotion at Summarecon Mall Bandung XXI, one of the ten participating IMAX cinemas across Indonesia.

Trojan Horse Installation in Jakarta
As part of the global promotional campaign, Universal Pictures has also installed a six-metre Trojan Horse at The Crystal, Senayan City, Jakarta. Open to visitors until 26 July 2026, the installation is the first to occupy the venue's event space and is currently the only Trojan Horse installation in Asia, offering fans an interactive photo opportunity inspired by the film.
The Odyssey opens exclusively in IMAX theatres across Indonesia starting 15 July 2026, with a three-week exclusive IMAX run. Advance ticket sales began on 10 July 2026, giving movie lovers the chance to secure seats for one of this year's most anticipated cinematic releases.
