Celebrating warm diplomatic relations and a shared appreciation for haute cuisine, The Trans Luxury Hotel Bandung, in collaboration with the Embassy of France in Indonesia and IFI (Institut français d’Indonésie) Bandung, successfully hosted an exclusive dinner "Rendez-vous Rasa" on Monday, September 28, 2026, at KALA - Modern Indonesian Fine Dining Restaurant, located on the 18th floor of The Trans Luxury Hotel
Bandung.
This special occasion presented a prestigious culinary celebration uniting two exceptional culinary figures. A seamless synergy unfolded between the world-class haute cuisine techniques of 2-Michelin-Starred Chef Stéphane Carrade from France and the mastery of Indonesian flavors by Chef Ahmad Syaiful, Executive Chef of The Trans Luxury Hotel Bandung. Through a 4-hands blind tasting dinner concept, both chefs collaborated to craft a secret 6-course menu showcasing handpicked local ingredients refined with French culinary expertise, complemented by a precise pairing of four fine French wines.
The evening of cultural diplomacy was attended by distinguished guests and key figures, including H.E. Fabien Penone (Ambassador of France to Indonesia), H.E. Konstantin Obolensky (Ambassador of Switzerland to Indonesia), Mr. Muhammad Farhan (Mayor of Bandung), Prof. Tatacipta Dirgantara (Rector of Institut Teknologi Bandung), and many more.
In his opening remarks, General Manager of The Trans Luxury Hotel Bandung, Marcel Jacquat, expressed that Rendez-vous Rasa was more than a fine dining experience; it was a cultural dialogue bridging the culinary traditions of France and Indonesia. The Trans Luxury Hotel was deeply honored to host this extraordinary collaboration between 2-Michelin-Starred Chef Stéphane Carrade and Chef Ahmad Syaiful, delivering an unforgettable gastronomic journey for all honored guests.
Throughout the evening, guests embarked on a sensory journey filled with surprises as each course was revealed step by step. The culinary voyage opened with Chef Stéphane Carrade’s Tiger Prawn, featuring bright citrus notes and Peking-style eggplant, harmoniously paired with Chef Ahmad Syaiful’s refreshing Asinan Crayfish infused with ambarella and kaffir lime. The exploration continued with the delicate Alfonsino Meunière delicately scented with coconut and vanilla by Chef Stéphane Carrade, leading into the main course—Chef Ahmad Syaiful’s Daging Berbumbu, showcasing Grilled Wagyu Beef Striploin Cabassi and a beef tongue skewer enriched with kluwek Espagnole. This exclusive dinner concluded with A Shared Finale, a sweet creation
blending black sticky rice, coconut, Harum Manis mango, makrut lime, and klepon gula aren crafted by both chefs.
The success of this prestigious event marked a significant milestone as the first-ever culinary collaboration with a Michelin-starred chef in the city of Bandung. This achievement was made possible through the valuable support of strategic partners, including Ambassade de France en Indonésie, France-Indonesia Innovation, Alliance Française, IFI (Institut français d’Indonésie), Wonderful Indonesia Gastronomy (WIG), and The Peak Connoisseurs, alongside collaborations with Business France and Disparbud. This milestone is hoped to pave the way for future world-class cross-cultural initiatives that foster mutual benefits and strengthen long-standing
