With Bandung’s recent windy weather adding a refreshing chill to the air, we knew it was the perfect time to enjoy a hearty, warming meal. So, we headed to Tian Jing Lou Restaurant at the InterContinental Bandung Dago Pakar to dive into their Steamboat Feast, a promotion running every weekend from Thursday to Saturday, starting at IDR 350,000++ for two people.
Stepping into the restaurant, we were immediately enveloped by its tranquil and intimate atmosphere. The Oriental decor added a touch of elegance, with intricate patterns enhancing the visual appeal. Soft lighting cast a warm glow over the room, amplifying the peaceful ambiance and creating the perfect setting for a cozy, relaxed meal. The attention to detail in the decor created a sophisticated backdrop that beautifully complemented our steamboat feast.
Our meal began with a crisp Caesar salad, setting a refreshing tone before we delved into the heart of our feast. We chose two broths for our steamboat: the zesty Tomyam and the soothing Healthy Chicken Collagen Broth. The Tomyam was a vibrant blend of spicy and tangy flavors, with lemongrass and lime leaves providing a zesty kick that danced on our taste buds. On the other hand, the Healthy Chicken Collagen Broth was soothing and savory, its velvety texture serving as a perfect counterpoint to the crisp, windy evening. For those with a spicier palate, there’s also the option of Spicy Mala, known for its fiery, numbing heat, and Laksa with Coconut Cream, which brings a creamy, aromatic touch to the experience.
As the ingredients cooked, we reveled in the sensory experience of our meal. The seafood selection—featuring Stirred Red Snapper, Calamari, Tiger Prawn, Mussel, Clam Tofu, Fish Cake, and Fish Ball—was exceptionally fresh. The Tiger Prawns were notably succulent, their subtle sweetness enhancing the broth, while the Mussels added a delightful briny depth. Alongside, the meat options, including Australian Ribeye, Australian Sliced Short Plate, Sliced Chicken Breast, Beef Tendon, Chicken Sausages, and Fresh Meat Ball Patty, were equally impressive. The combination of these high-quality meats, cooked to perfection, complemented the broths beautifully, making every bite a savory and satisfying experience.
No matter what ingredients you choose, you’re in for a treat—the quality and flavor of each item are guaranteed to delight. However, for the ultimate experience, opting for both seafood and meat ensures a diverse and satisfying feast. The vegetables—pakchoy, Chinese spinach, lettuce, cabbage, mushrooms, onions, tofu, and eggs—added a burst of color and texture, while the koay teow and flat rice noodles absorbed the flavorful broths perfectly.
As we savored each bite, the tranquil setting and intimate ambiance of the restaurant made the experience all the more special. The attentive service and the warmth of the broths created a perfect escape from the cool evening outside.
We wrapped up our dining experience with a refreshing dessert of freshly sliced fruit and a special treat of the day from the chef. This light and sweet finish perfectly rounded out our indulgent feast.
Overall, the Steamboat Feast at Tian Jing Lou offered a generous selection of high-quality ingredients and a dining experience that was both comforting and indulgent—ideal for warming up on a chilly Bandung evening.
