Building Dreams: Sofitel Bali Nusa Dua Beach Resort Brings Education to Southwest Sumba with Bali Life Foundation
Following the success of its charity gala An Evening of Elegance & Empathy held on 14 November 2025, Sofitel Bali Nusa Dua Beach Resort is proud to announce the commencement of a school construction project in Southwest Sumba, in partnership with Bali Life Foundation. The initiative successfully raised IDR 500,000,000, dedicated to providing access to quality education for the Tambolaka community.
The official groundbreaking ceremony took place on 12 February 2026, marking an important milestone in addressing the region’s urgent need for safe and functional educational infrastructure. The project aims to replace existing unusable facilities while resolving challenges related to inadequate sanitation and limited access to clean water.
Once completed, the new school will feature two fully equipped classrooms, a dedicated teachers’ office, four modern toilets with running water, as well as a playground and athletic field, creating a safe and nurturing learning environment for both students and educators.
The ceremony was inaugurated by The Regent of Southwest Sumba, Ibu Ratu Ngadu Bonu Wulla, and attended by representatives from Sofitel Bali Nusa Dua Beach Resort, including Jean-Pierre Joncas, General Manager; Nia Edwards, Director of People & Culture; and Aulianty Fellina, Senior Director of Marketing Communications & PR. The event was also shared with the school’s 32 students and faculty, celebrating a meaningful step toward a brighter future.
