Toward a Climate-Resilient Future, Bali’s Eco Tourism Week 2025 Confronts Challenges and Celebrates Solutions.

Eco Tourism Bali (ETB) in collaboration with The Meru Sanur proudly announces the 3rd Annual Eco Tourism Week 2025 (ETW) on Wednesday, 28 May 2025 at Bali Beach Convention Center. A landmark event dedicated to promoting sustainable tourism practices in Bali and beyond. This year’s celebration marks a critical moment in Eco Tourism Bali’s journey, as the organization steps onto the global stage as the first and only Sustainable Verification Company in Indonesia recognized under Travalyst’s global compliance list.

"The 3rd Annual Eco Tourism Week 2025 represents a significant step forward to promote sustainable tourism in Indonesia. This event serves as an inspiration for the broader tourism industry to embed sustainability to its values and practices. We commend Eco Tourism Bali and The Meru Sanur for their collaborative and visionary efforts to make tourism more responsible and regenerative, ensuring that Indonesia’s rich natural and cultural heritage is preserved for future generations.

"At the Ministry of Tourism, we are deeply committed to advancing green tourism initiatives that are integral to Indonesia’s sustainable tourism development, including our flagship program: the Clean Tourism Movement (Gerakan Wisata Bersih) which focuses on enhancing waste management and sanitation infrastructure at tourism destinations. Alongside the #KeepTheWonder campaign, these programs underscore our commitment to building a tourism commitment to sustainable and regenerative tourism. Our goal is to build a tourism ecosystem that not only attracts visitors but also uplifts local communities and protects our natural and cultural heritage." — Ni Made Ayu Marthini, Deputy Minister for Marketing, Ministry of Tourism.

Held in partnership with The Meru Sanur, this year’s Eco Tourism Week underscores the growing synergy between hospitality leaders and sustainability advocates.

“Our support for Eco Tourism Week is a living proof of collaboration fuelled by the spirit of sustainability, not only in rising awareness but also in taking our responsibility as a business to minimize environmental impact, uplift local community, and preserve Indonesia’s cultural heritage. We are proud to be part of this synergy for the advancement of sustainable tourism in Indonesia.” said Ed Brea, General Manager of The Meru Sanur, Bali Beach Hotel and Bali Beach Convention Center.

The 2025 edition anticipates over 300 participants, featuring a B2B exhibition of 50 sustainable solutions tailored for the hospitality sector. The program will include three expert-led panel discussions and 10 presentations by pioneering sustainable businesses. Attendees will vote for the Most Impactful and Most Innovative Solution of the Year, reinforcing community engagement and peer recognition.

A unique highlight of ETW 2025 is an art exhibition by Ririn Yaxley (Kita Bisa), showcasing striking installations made entirely from hospitality industry waste—an evocative reminder of the urgent need for creative sustainability.

This year, ETB will also honor 21 hotels and restaurants that have successfully undergone Eco Climate Badge Verification between 2024–2025, reflecting their commitment to sustainable transformation.

“Eco Tourism Week 2025 falls between International Biodiversity Day (May 22) and World Environment Day (June 5)—a symbolic period that reinforces our mission to integrate biodiversity conservation, climate action, and local wisdom into the heart of the tourism sector,” said Suzy Hutomo, Co-Founder of Eco Tourism Bali. “By anchoring our event in this global environmental window, we invite all stakeholders to see tourism not just as an industry, but as a force for regeneration and harmony with nature.”

“As we enter our fourth year, we’re proud to be globally affiliated and recognized among 60 sustainability certification bodies worldwide,” added Rahmi Fajar Harini, Co-Founders of Eco Tourism Bali. “This milestone means we can now amplify local solutions on an international stage, positioning Bali as a model for eco-conscious travel.”

Eco Tourism Week is more than an event—it’s a movement. Organized annually by Eco Tourism Bali, Eco Tourism Week brings together leaders from government, tourism, academia, and business to connect, learn, and celebrate progress in sustainable tourism.
