On Friday, 25 April 2025, What's New Bali had the pleasure of attending a truly inspiring art event at Ku De Ta, where the iconic beachfront venue teamed up with the renowned Nyaman Gallery for an exhibition titled “A Celebration of Creativity, Where Art Finds Its Place by the Sea.” It was an evening filled with visual wonder, creative dialogue, and warm community spirit, all set against the stunning backdrop of Seminyak’s coastline.
An evening filled with visual wonder, creative dialogue, and warm community spirit, all set against the stunning backdrop of Seminyak’s coastline.

Known for its vibrant lifestyle scene, Ku De Ta has long been a staple in Bali’s beach culture, offering elevated dining and curated experiences. Nyaman Gallery, on the other hand, is celebrated for championing both local and international contemporary artists. Together, they curated a striking showcase that blends thought-provoking art with the effortless elegance of beachfront living. The exhibition featured bold surrealist works, intricate mixed media pieces made from recycled plastics, and even reimagined traditional boats—each artwork offering a deeper reflection on culture, nature, and sustainability on the island.

Aside from the breathtaking sunset, one of the evening’s most memorable highlights was the captivating live painting session by the talented Nyoman Wijaya and Quint, who created their distinctive style of artwork on the spot, drawing in guests with their expressive brushstrokes and dynamic energy. As the night progressed, the event concluded with heartfelt speeches from Stephan Kotas of Ku De Ta and Elisa of Plastic Kembali, delivered later in the evening—perhaps even near closing. Their words touched on the powerful intersection of creativity, environmental consciousness, and community engagement, echoing the core values reflected in every piece on display.

As we explored the breezy main hall, enjoying a delicious spread of complimentary canapés—from chicken lumpia and dumplings to fresh pizza slices—we found ourselves immersed in meaningful conversations with fellow art lovers, hoteliers, business owners, and media peers from across the island. The event served as a vibrant gathering of creative minds and kindred spirits, celebrating the power of artistic expression and community connection.
