An Elevated Japanese Teppanyaki Delight at Nampu, Grand Hyatt Bali

There are plenty of Japanese-style restaurants in Bali, but just a few of them that exudes both quality and authenticity. One of them is Nampu. Located at the family-friendly beachfront resort in Nusa Dua, Grand Hyatt Bali, Nampu comes with a rustic Izakaya (country-inn) style and overlooks a well-manicured garden and clear ponds; ready to make their guest feels like Japanese royalty. What's New Bali team recently had the opportunity to embark on an extraordinary teppanyaki dining experience at Nampu. Here's the recap of our delightful culinary journey.

An Elevated Japanese Teppanyaki Delight at Nampu, Grand Hyatt Bali

The First Impression

Nampu Interior Seating

Stepping inside, we were captivated by the elegant and sleek interior design, which effortlessly blended Japanese culture and philosophy. The ambiance perfectly complemented the authentic Japanese setting we were about to experience. The main dining room showcased an interactive sushi bar, where we eagerly watched as skilled chefs artfully (and playfully) crafted delectable sushi creations right before our eyes. The teppanyaki room, on the other hand, housed Teppan Grill tables, promising an entertaining and interactive dining experience.

Settling into our seats, we couldn't help but appreciate the attention to detail in every aspect of Nampu's design. From the modern tatami seating to the private dining rooms, everything exuded a sense of refined elegance. It was clear that Nampu had spared no effort in creating an atmosphere that truly transported us to Japan.

But it was the food that truly stole the show. Nampu's commitment to honoring Japanese culinary traditions was evident in every meticulously prepared dish. As we perused the menu, our mouths watered at the thought of the tantalizing flavors that awaited us.

The Thrilling ‘Teppanyaki’ Show

Nampu Teppanyaki

Opting for the Teppanyaki experience, we found ourselves seated right across from the chef, ready to witness his culinary prowess. The eight-course set menu began with a delightful assortment of fresh daily sashimi, Japanese salad, and grilled vegetables. The Kaiso Salad, a beautiful medley of seaweed wakame, seaweed konbu, mixed lettuce, and a delectable onion dressing, was a refreshing start to the meal. We also savored the Yaki Yasai, a delectable combination of asparagus, onion, zucchini, mushrooms, capsicum, and a rich soya butter sauce.

As the Teppanyaki experience continued, we savored our chosen main courses, each accompanied by homemade sauces and spices. The Tori Momo Niku, a succulent chicken leg dish, delighted our taste buds, while the premium marbled Australian sirloin steak, cooked to perfection, melted in our mouths. The garlic vegetables fried rice and steamed rice provided a delightful accompaniment, and the Miso Shiru soup, brimming with soya bean soup, soft tofu, seaweed, wakame, and Shiitake mushroom, offered an umami delicacy.

The Warm, Sweet Closure

The chef's special dessert of the day provided the perfect conclusion to our Teppanyaki dinner. We indulged in the smooth and velvety Tofu Cheesecake, accompanied by green tea ice cream, a sesame crust, and a luscious maple coffee sauce. Alternatively, the Green Tea Sundae offered a refreshing and sweet finale to our palate.

Dessert Nampu Grand Hyatt

To complement our culinary journey, Nampu presented an impressive selection of fine drinks. We delighted in the premium wines, sake, and the authentic Japanese touch of refillable hot or cold ocha. Additionally, we couldn't resist exploring the range of premium and high-quality traditional sake. The vibrant aromatics and refreshingly intense warm flavors of these exquisite collections truly showcased Japan's rich cultural heritage.

Our dining experience at Nampu was nothing short of extraordinary. From the moment we stepped foot into the restaurant until the final bite of our dessert, we were treated to a sensory journey that awakened our taste buds and immersed us in the beauty of Japanese cuisine. The skilled chefs, the meticulous preparation of each dish, and the attention to detail in the restaurant's ambiance all contributed to an unforgettable evening.
