The Pioneer of Bali's Indian Restaurant
Queen’s Tandoor has been a celebrated destination in Bali for more than two decades, establishing itself as the island’s premier Indian restaurant. Across its locations in Seminyak, Kuta, Nusa Dua, and Ubud, Queen’s Tandoor delivers a consistently high-quality experience that has made it synonymous with authentic Indian cuisine on the island. At the heart of this success is Chef Moumita Bhaumik, a native Indian celebrity chef renowned for blending traditional flavors with modern techniques. Chef Moumita Bhaumik: A Culinary Visionaire
At the heart of this remarkable dining experience currently, is Chef Moumita Bhaumik. With a passion for Indian-inspired cuisine and a creative blend of Ayurvedic principles, Chef Moumita’s work at Queen’s Tandoor has been transformative. By crafting unique dishes that merge traditional Indian flavors with Western-inspired techniques, she shows that Indian cuisine is as diverse and vibrant as India itself.
The Dishes We Savored
Our meal began with the delightful Aloo Tokri Chaat, a vibrant appetizer that set the tone for our culinary journey. This classic chaat is presented in a crisp potato basket filled with seasonal vegetable patties, then topped with beet yogurt and drizzled with mint and tamarind chutneys. Chef Moumita's unique twist—the addition of beet sauce—adds a refreshing and healthy layer to this beloved dish, bringing a burst of flavors and textures in every bite.
As we moved into the main courses, we were struck by the creative fusion of flavors. The Lamb Pappardella combined the rich taste of traditional Kashmiri Rogan Josh with handmade Italian pappardelle. The dish features Australian lamb slow-cooked to tender perfection, with a sauce that complements the pasta beautifully. Next, the Palak Paneer Ravioli took a cherished Indian delicacy and transformed it into a modern, fusion-inspired delight. This dish turns classic palak paneer into spinach-stuffed ravioli filled with paneer and served with a creamy spinach sauce, showcasing a seamless blend of Indian and Italian cuisines. And, of course, no Indian meal is complete without a classic; the Traditional Butter Chicken with Cheese Butter Naan did not disappoint. This North Indian specialty features tandoori chicken tikka shredded and simmered in a rich, buttery tomato gravy. Paired with fluffy, cheese-stuffed naan baked in the tandoor, it’s an irresistibly creamy and savory delight with a hint of spice that perfectly balances each bite.
For dessert, we indulged in two unique creations that demonstrated Chef Moumita’s innovative approach. The Chilli Rasgulla added an unexpected yet delightful twist to the traditional Indian dessert by incorporating a hint of green chili, giving each sweet, soft rasgulla a surprising finish. We also enjoyed the Galaxy Kulfi, a homemade frozen dessert with avocado puree and a galaxy-like presentation on the plate. This kulfi was drizzled with house-made blueberry and pineapple coulis, creating a visually stunning and delicious finale to our meal.
Refreshing Thirst Quenchers
To complement our meal, we tried the Ginger Beer and King Masala, both refreshing drinks that provided a perfect balance to the spices in the food. Each sip offered a delightful cool-down between the flavorful bites, enhancing the dining experience.
Our experience at Queen’s Tandoor Bali was both fulfilling and inspiring. The restaurant radiates the essence of Indian culture, combining rich flavors with a modern twist. For fans of Indian food and newcomers alike, Queen’s Tandoor is a must-visit destination. With its warm atmosphere and one-of-a-kind dishes crafted by a skilled chef, it delivers an authentic yet elevated dining journey right in the heart of Bali.
