On Saturday, 3 October 2026, Green School Foundation will host their eighth IGNITE, its annual fundraising gala, at Green School Bali. This year, Chronicles of Nusantara turns the lens on Indonesia's own land, from its food and makers to the traditions passed down through generations.

Rather than seeing Nusantara as a distant memory, this year’s IGNITE celebrates how its spirit thrives in daily life. The rice on our plates, the bamboo that frames our homes, the fibers spun into textiles, the plants that nourish and color, and the wisdom passed from one generation to the next all spring from the land. Agriculture is not separate from culture. In many ways, culture takes root in the soil itself.

Guiding the evening’s feast are Chef William Wongso, a celebrated figure in Indonesian cuisine, and Chef Jero Yudhi of Dapur Bali Mula, who uses his kitchen in North Bali to preserve local ingredients and keep Balinese culinary heritage alive. It will be a night where Wongso’s decades of culinary exploration, captured in his award-winning cookbook Flavors of Indonesia: William Wongso’s Culinary Wonders, meet Jero Yudhi’s devotion to tradition. Together, they will craft a dinner that weaves together ingredients, stories, and traditions, offering a flavorful journey through Indonesia’s rich culinary landscape.

The evening will unfold as a journey through Nusantara, inviting guests to discover the countless ways people live, create, and keep traditions alive across the archipelago. As they move through the bamboo jungle, guests will explore spaces that reveal the many faces of Nusantara through craft, food, agriculture, performance, and daily rituals. Local makers and communities will share their skills and stories, allowing guests to experience the living heritage of Nusantara firsthand, piece by piece.

The journey will peak with an unforgettable dinner, followed by performances by local artists and a lively LIVE Auction. Contributions from hospitality partners, artists, makers, and businesses across Indonesia will add to the evening’s excitement.
 

Funds raised at IGNITE fuel Green School Foundation’s impactful programs, including the Environmental School Project, which brings hands-on sustainability learning to local schools, and the Agricultural University Scholarship Program, which empowers young Indonesian undergraduates to study agriculture to regenerate the nation’s farming sector. This year’s theme circles back to where it all starts: the land itself.
