The LEGOLAND® School Challenge is back, bigger and more challenging than ever! In its fourth edition, this Asia-wide school competition, in collaboration with the Malaysian Ministry of Education and Trip.com, aims to unleash boundless creativity in students across the continent.
Since its launch in 2022, the competition has become a regional phenomenon. Following record-breaking participation in 2024, this year promises an even more thrilling experience, packed with new features and prizes that spark imagination and ignite a passion for learning.
New Theme, New Thrills: "Build Your Dream Destination"
This year's competition is open to three age categories: 7–9, 10–12, and 13–17. The 2025 edition challenges students to design their dream travel destinations using LEGO bricks. Whether it's a futuristic underwater world, an imaginary island, or a dreamland among the stars, participants are encouraged to combine creativity, storytelling, and engineering skills to bring these magical destinations to life.
What's New in 2025?
Two exciting new additions make this year's challenge truly unmissable:
Go Global Grand Prizes: Winners from the Primary and Secondary Categories will embark on a trip to LEGOLAND Korea, while the Junior Category champions will enjoy a holiday at LEGOLAND Malaysia.
Speed Build Showdown: For the first time ever, the finals will feature an energetic Speed Build Challenge. The top five finalist teams in each category will compete head-to-head in front of a judging panel and audience, racing against the clock to create an original LEGO build within a 45-minute timeframe.
Every finalist team will also enjoy a 3-day, 2-night stay at the LEGOLAND Hotel, receive an exclusive LEGO trophy, exciting LEGO sets, and Annual Passes to LEGOLAND Malaysia Resort.

An Inspiring Tale of Competition for Young Innovators
Among the Challenge's most inspiring alumni is Nathanael Yap, a three-time Grand Prize winner. At the launch event, he shared his experience:
"Being a part of the LEGOLAND School Challenge for three consecutive years was one of the best parts of my school life. Every year, I got to work with friends, problem-solve in creative ways, and build something we were proud of, brick by brick. It taught me how fun learning can be when we can think 'outside the box'."
"Even though I've graduated and can't participate anymore, the experience still sticks with me. As I look forward to university and start thinking more seriously about my future, I realize how much this challenge helped shape my interests, especially in fields like design, engineering, and creative thinking. I'm incredibly excited to see what this year's participants will build, and I hope they seize this opportunity to push themselves and discover what they're capable of," he stated. His story reflects the core of this challenge: empowering young minds to explore, imagine, and create.

Shaping Future Creators, One LEGO Brick at a Time
"The LEGOLAND School Challenge has always been more than just a competition," said Cs Lim, Vice President of LEGOLAND Malaysia Resort. "As an event centered on our LEGO DNA of learning through play, it helps develop crucial skills like problem-solving, critical thinking, and innovation in our future leaders. Since we expanded last year to include participation from schools across Asia, it has also become an avenue for cultural exchange for students and teachers. We look forward to welcoming more participants this year across the region and seeing their creativity unfold."
"The 2025 competition is proudly supported by the Malaysian Ministry of Education, Tourism Malaysia, Trip.com Group, and the LEGO Group—all sharing the common goal of igniting the spirit of the next generation of builders, dreamers, and doers," Lim added.
Stephane Thong, General Manager of Trip.com Malaysia, believes that as a global platform, Trip.com strives to unite people from different cultures and backgrounds, creating a better world through the power of travel. "This partnership with LEGOLAND is a natural extension of our commitment to building communities, especially as this year's theme 'Build Your Dream Destination' aligns perfectly with our brand. We are proud to support this inspiring initiative by providing this year's Grand Prize of an unforgettable trip to Korea, and believe this will help broaden their horizons as they experience the vibrant culture and traditions of this country. We're very excited to see how this year's participants bring their imaginations to life."
