How to Extend VoA and Visit Visa?

How to Extend VoA and Visit Visa?

Indonesia’s immigration authorities have rolled out updated regulations for extending both the Visa on Arrival (VoA) and Visit Visa for foreign nationals since November 2024.

These provisions, which include immigration office verification for VoA and Visit Visa extensions, are detailed in the Minister of Law and Human Rights Regulation (Permenkumham) No. 11 of 2024, Article 97, which amends No. 22 of 2023.

The regulation also stipulates that foreign nationals will not face overstay penalties if the application and payment for a VoA or visit visa extension are made before the original visa expires.

VoA

The process for extending an Indonesian VoA now involves verification by the immigration office, taking into account the foreign national’s residency status in Indonesia. Applications for VoA extensions, nonetheless, can still be submitted conveniently online via the evisa.imigrasi.go.id website.

According to the Directorate General of Immigration’s official website, “Applications for VoA extensions can be completed online, whether the foreign national holds an electronic VoA (e-VoA) or a sticker-based VoA obtained at the airport immigration counter.” Once submitted, the immigration office will verify the applicant’s data before processing the VoA extension.

Visit Visa

Foreign nationals with a Visit Visa valid for 60 days who wish to extend their stay must have an Indonesian citizen as a guarantor or sponsor.

Therefore, they are encouraged to carefully assess their needs. If they plan to stay in Indonesia for longer than 60 days, it’s advisable to secure a guarantor from the beginning. For those intending to remain under 60 days, a Visit Visa can be applied for without a guarantor.
