Mandapa, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve is pleased to announce the appointment of Masanori Hosoya as General Manager for the ultra-luxury resort. Bringing over two decades of hospitality experience to the role and over 16 years with The Ritz-Carlton brand, Masa will oversee all operations and the resort’s business strategy for Mandapa – the third bespoke resort in the prestigious Ritz-Carlton Reserve portfolio and the award-winning property in Ubud, Bali.
Japanese-born and Spanish-raised, Masa has spent most of his time in the luxury properties within Marriott International and brought a deep understanding of the Ritz-Carlton brand from Spain and Japan. He began his hospitality career in Food and Beverage and worked for various 1 Michelin star restaurants. In Spain, Masa first joined The Ritz-Carlton, Abama Tenerife in 2005, followed by Hotel Arts Barcelona where he held leadership positions. Returning home to Japan in 2014, Masa assumed his Hotel Manager role at The Ritz-Carlton Tokyo for two years before moving up to his first role as General Manager of BVLGARI Hotel and Resorts, Tokyo-Osaka Restaurants, positioning the brand and extending the brand outside its traditional image. In May 2020, his next role led him to successfully open The Ritz-Carlton Nikko. The resort is a pristine haven surrounded by the beauty of Lake Chuzenji where nature and culture are revered, quite similar to where he is now at Mandapa, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve – a new home in an exquisite corner of Ubud where terraced rice fields meet the jungle and beyond, surrounded by the longest river in Bali, Ayung River.

Leading by example, and continuously seeking opportunities to innovate are two basic traits of Masanori. He is fluent in Spanish, English, and Japanese. To charge up his batteries, he enjoys Ubud’s cuisine, particularly the healthy variety, enjoys football, and being a true Ubudian now — yoga as well.
