The Papandayan Jazz Fest (TPJF) 2024 is set to take place on October 26-27, 2024, at The Papandayan Hotel Bandung. This year's festival is expected to be even more special than in previous years, showcasing a lineup of renowned jazz musicians from both national and international backgrounds, as well as several top Indonesian artists who are currently in high demand.
The commitment and consistency of TP Jazz Management in presenting a music tourism destination in Bandung, West Java, is realized through a series of weekly events, including TP Jazz Weekend and TP Stage, the annual The Papandayan International Online Jazz Competition, and The Papandayan Jazz Fest, now entering its ninth year. According to TP Jazz founder Bobby Renaldi, the theme "Unlock The Vibes" holds profound meaning regarding the vision TP Jazz Management aims to achieve. “Unlock The Vibes” represents TP Jazz Management as a nurturing ground of openness and dedication in managing Indonesia’s jazz music programs to contribute both nationally and internationally. One of the visions established by TP Jazz Management is to produce The Papandayan Jazz Fest as a platform for young local musicians to reach the national stage and become ambassadors of international jazz. TPJF serves as the pinnacle of annual events alongside weekly and quarterly programs. The Papandayan Jazz Fest is not just a celebration of jazz music, but a venue for expressing gratitude for the commitment and consistency derived from ongoing efforts. We also welcome performances from renowned jazz musicians, talented young artists who are winners of The Papandayan International Online Jazz Competition (TPJC) 2024, as well as prominent musicians from various genres. This theme reflects our commitment to providing a profound, dynamic, and memorable musical experience, opening new perspectives on enjoying jazz for all attendees,” said Bobby Renaldi.
The Papandayan Jazz Fest 2024 will feature five stages over two days, showcasing musicians such as The Bakuucakar, Andre Dinuth, & Wanda Omar, Dwiki Dharmawan ft. Sandhy Sondoro, Nadin Amizah, Juicy Luicy, Marcello Tahitoe, Potret, NonaRia, The Brownsu, and many more. This year, the festival will also feature Scottish jazz musician James Flynn, an international jazz musician and composer who has performed in Europe, Asia, and Australia. James Flynn, accompanied by Imelda Rosalin and Friends—a local jazz singer and musician—will be one of the anticipated performances at The Papandayan Jazz Fest 2024. Unlike other jazz festivals, The Papandayan Jazz Fest will also provide visitors the opportunity to attend a Master Jazz Class led by Robert MR and James Flynn, experts in national and international jazz.
With the grand goal of becoming a platform for both emerging and experienced musicians through The Papandayan International Online Jazz Competition, The Papandayan Jazz Fest 2024 will also feature winners from this annual competition, such as Swing Not Triplets and Jazmates, as part of the festival lineup. This serves as a tangible testament to TP Jazz Management's commitment to fostering a jazz ecosystem that nurtures talented jazz musicians on both national and international stages, continuously elevating Indonesian jazz.
This year’s The Papandayan Jazz Fest will also enrich its value with the inclusion of music stages featuring high school students and university students from various institutions, community music stages, a jazz market involving creative products from small and medium enterprises, jazz talks with stakeholders, and opportunities to enhance the competencies of music lovers and practitioners through master jazz classes.
