Bali International Hospital is poised to make history as the first medical facility in Indonesia permitted to employ foreign doctors, signaling a major evolution in the nation's healthcare landscape. Scheduled to open in June 2025 to privately paying patients, the hospital is positioned as a flagship institution within the country’s growing medical tourism sector.
As a part of The Sanur SEZ, the hospital is positioned as a flagship institution within the country’s growing medical tourism sector.

Strategically located in Sanur, the Bali International Hospital sits at the heart of The Sanur Special Economic Zone (SEZ)—a government-designated area developed to become Indonesia’s premier destination for healthcare, wellness, and tourism. The Sanur SEZ is envisioned as a global hub that integrates world-class medical services, luxury accommodations, and holistic wellness experiences into one comprehensive destination. The presence of Bali International Hospital within this zone is central to realizing that mission.
The hospital itself is a state-of-the-art facility, spanning more than 67,000 square meters across four floors. It houses 255 beds, 34 intensive care units, 8 operating theaters, 4 catheterization labs, and 5 centers of excellence. Designed with advanced imaging and therapeutic capabilities, the hospital will provide highly specialized care in Cardiology, Oncology, Neurology, Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Orthopedics.

Breaking new ground for Indonesia, the hospital will welcome its first foreign doctors into official practice. The initial group includes four distinguished Singaporean oncologists—Dr. Robert Lim, Dr. Francis Chin Kuok Choon, Dr. Patrica Khi Sunn Sunn, and Dr. Tan Yew Oo—who bring decades of regional and international expertise in cancer treatment. They will be joined by Dr. Rio Marnoto, an Indonesian-born physician who returns from a 24-year medical career in Germany to serve patients in his homeland. Additional medical professionals are expected to arrive from Japan, Hong Kong, and Singapore, further strengthening the hospital’s international profile.
A subsidiary of Indonesia Healthcare Corporation (IHC), Bali International Hospital is developed in partnership with the Icon Group—one of Australia’s leading oncology service networks. This collaboration supports the hospital’s commitment to advancing cancer care in Indonesia by offering early detection programs, innovative treatment options, and personalized care plans for both domestic patients and international visitors.

The hospital addresses a critical need in Indonesia’s healthcare system. Cancer is the second leading cause of death among non-communicable diseases in the country, with the majority of patients presenting at advanced stages of illness. Bali International Hospital aims to reduce late-stage diagnoses by providing access to world-class oncology services supported by cutting-edge technology and highly trained specialists.
Beyond cancer care, the hospital will provide a broad spectrum of services, including comprehensive medical screenings, women’s and children’s health, travel medicine, and vaccinations. The emergency department will offer private ambulance services and multilingual assistance, ensuring accessibility and comfort for international patients.

As a key anchor of The Sanur SEZ, Bali International Hospital is part of a wider vision to redefine Bali’s role in global wellness and healthcare. The SEZ combines healthcare innovation with hospitality and tourism, creating an environment where patients and travelers alike can access advanced medical services within a tranquil, resort-like setting.
