You’ve received prestigious awards, including Indonesia Travel Business Leader in Bali Hotel Award (2022) and General Manager of the year ARTOTEL Group (2023). Looking back, what do these achievements mean to you personally, and how do they inspire the way you guide your team?

Receiving the Indonesia Travel Business Leader Award in 2022 and being named ARTOTEL Group’s General Manager of the Year in 2023 has been very meaningful. These recognitions are not only personal milestones but also a reflection of the hard work and spirit of my team. Each award reminds me to lead with integrity, passion, and collaboration. They motivate me to nurture an environment where every team member feels valued, encouraged to share ideas, and empowered to perform at their best. In the end, these achievements represent collective success, not just mine.

You began your career in accounting and finance before stepping into hotel operations and eventually becoming General Manager at Artotel Sanur Bali. How has this strong financial background shaped the way you lead a hotel today?

My career began in accounting and finance, working my way up from entry-level positions to Financial Controller. That journey instilled in me discipline, precision, and a deep sense of integrity. Finance may operate behind the scenes, but it connects with every part of hotel operations and ensures long-term sustainability. When I transitioned into operations, I discovered the challenge and reward of balancing numbers with guest experiences. As a General Manager, this background helps me see the bigger picture, align resources with what matters most to guests, and guide my team with both confidence and accountability. It’s about achieving financial stability while never compromising the heart of hospitality.

Artotel Sanur Bali has become a vibrant destination blending art, hospitality, and local culture. What is your long-term vision for the property, and how do you plan to keep innovating in Bali’s competitive hospitality scene?

I want ARTOTEL Sanur Bali to remain more than a hotel—it should continue as a cultural hub where art, hospitality, and local identity blend naturally. Sanur has a charm of its own, and our role is to highlight that character while offering fresh, creative experiences that modern travelers seek. This vision aligns with ARTOTEL Group’s mission to be a leading hotel and lifestyle operator in Southeast Asia, built on art and creativity. At the property level, that means collaborating with local artists, hosting cultural programs, and pushing sustainability efforts. I believe innovation in Bali’s competitive hospitality scene comes from staying true to our roots while continuing to surprise and inspire our guests.

“Hospitality is about people. If you can inspire, empower, and grow together with your team, success will naturally follow.”

With your expertise in cost and revenue management, how do you balance financial sustainability with delivering an exceptional guest experience that keeps people coming back?

I see financial sustainability and guest satisfaction as partners, not opposites. A healthy bottom line allows us to reinvest in our people, improve facilities, and enhance guest experiences. My financial expertise ensures discipline and structure, while my role in hospitality emphasizes warmth, creativity, and human connection. At ARTOTEL Sanur Bali, guest feedback about our attentive staff, comfortable rooms, and unique experiences shows that this balance is achievable. It proves that when financial discipline and authentic service work together, both the business and the guest journey thrive.

You’ve had significant experience in hotel pre-opening and strategic planning. What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned from managing new projects, and do you see yourself leading more pre-opening ventures in the future?

Being involved in hotel pre-openings has been like writing a story from scratch. The most important lesson I’ve learned is the value of a solid foundation—having the right systems in place and building a culture where people feel engaged from day one. At the same time, adaptability is just as critical. No matter how thorough the planning, surprises will come, and a strong team must be ready to respond with agility. I enjoy the creativity and energy that comes with these projects, and I do see myself leading more in the future. For me, pre-openings are about more than launching a property—they’re about shaping a culture and legacy that will carry the hotel forward for years to come.

Running a hotel is intense, but everyone needs an outlet. What hobbies or passions do you enjoy outside of work that keep you balanced and energized as a leader?

Hospitality is a demanding industry, so finding balance is important. Traveling has always been one of my passions—it allows me to recharge and gain inspiration from different cultures, architecture, and cuisines. I also enjoy discovering new cafés, restaurants, and lifestyle venues, both locally and abroad. These activities keep me curious and exposed to trends, which in turn influence the way I think about hospitality. They remind me that great guest experiences often come from small, thoughtful details, and those insights often stem from my own personal explorations.

“Financial sustainability and guest satisfaction are not opposites, they must go hand in hand.”

If we fast forward five years from now, where do you see yourself in your career and personal journey? Would you still be leading hotels, or perhaps exploring something bigger in hospitality or business?

Five years from now, I still see myself in hospitality, because this is where I find my passion and purpose. However, I hope to expand my role—perhaps by leading multiple properties, taking part in larger-scale projects, or even exploring entrepreneurial ventures connected to tourism and lifestyle. Growth, to me, comes from stepping outside of one’s comfort zone, and I want to keep challenging myself with opportunities that allow me to make a bigger impact. My goal is to contribute to hospitality on a broader scale while continuing to bring creativity and innovation into the industry.

What advice would you give to young professionals in Bali who dream of one day becoming a hotel General Manager like you?

For young professionals in Bali who aspire to become General Managers, my advice is to stay curious, disciplined, and resilient. This industry is fast-moving, and success comes to those who are eager to learn and adapt. Don’t underestimate the value of small roles—every task is a stepping stone toward your future. Leadership is not just about personal achievement, but about inspiring and growing with your team. If you focus on empowering others and creating a positive environment, success will follow naturally.
