Conrad Bali recently hosted an extraordinary celebration of World Whisky Day, offering whisky aficionados and cocktail enthusiasts an unforgettable experience. This exclusive event, featuring the acclaimed World Champion Mixologist, Bili Wirawan, from Mozaic Restaurant Ubud, showcased the resort’s commitment to partnering with homegrown talent.

 

Bili Wirawan, the professional Bar Manager at Mozaic Restaurant Ubud, is celebrated for his exceptional skills and innovative techniques in mixology. His accolades include being named Les Grandes Tables du Monde Mixology of The Year 2024, placing in the Top 5 of the Captain Morgan Mixology Competition 2018, being in the Top 50 of the Diageo World Class Competition (Eastern Indonesia) 2017, and winning the Mediterranean Mixology Competition 2017.

 

 

On Saturday, May 17, 2025, the East Lobby Lounge at Conrad Bali transformed into a haven for whisky lovers. The festivities began with a Mixology Masterclass from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM, where Bili showcased his world-class techniques and shared the secrets behind crafting the perfect cocktail. Each participant received a certificate of participation and a complimentary cocktail during the masterclass, which was conducted using Matsui Japanese whisky and fresh, locally sourced ingredients from Conrad Bali's sustainable garden, Kebun Kita. Launched on Earth Day 2024, Kebun Kita supports the resort's garden-to-table dining concepts and offers guests a unique experience with home-grown ingredients.

 

The celebration continued with an exclusive Bar Takeover from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM, where guests witnessed the artistry of mixology firsthand. Bili served three specially curated cocktails: Not A Manhattan (clay pot aged Manhattan, spices, lemon, fresh coffee meringue), Gold Rush (clay pot aged whisky, sweet vermouth, chamomile, burnt lemon), and Bloody Mary (The Matsui San-In, rose and tomato water, sesame, lemon). The evening was enriched by live music, creating a vibrant and unforgettable atmosphere.

 

 

The whisky featured at this event was from the esteemed Kurayoshi Distillery, operated by Matsui Shuzo in Tottori Prefecture, Japan. Renowned for its high-quality water sourced from the foothills of Mt. Daisen, the distillery uses a variety of barrels, including Mizunara (Japanese Oak), Sakura (Cherry wood), wine barrels, and sherry barrels, to age their whisky. This contributes to the unique flavors and characteristics of their products. One of their notable offerings is the Matsui Pure Malt Whisky "The Kurayoshi," known for its balanced acidity, bitterness, and sweetness, with flavors of raisins, nuts, and vanilla. The distillery emphasizes innovation and meticulous craftsmanship to produce whisky that appeals to a wide range of tastes.

 

This extraordinary evening provided an unparalleled opportunity for guests to deepen their appreciation of whisky and indulge in an exceptional mixology experience.
