MĀUA Nusa Penida, as the host of this environmental conservation activity, in collaboration with the Friends of the National Parks Foundation (FNPF), successfully facilitated the release of three rehabilitated Black Kites (Milvus migrans) at the Bali Wildlife Rescue Center in Tabanan. This initiative is part of ongoing conservation efforts to restore the island ecosystem and preserve its biodiversity.
The three Black Kites were rescued from illegal captivity and suffered from malnutrition and wing injuries upon their arrival at the Bali Wildlife Rescue Center. Through months of dedicated rehabilitation, including medical treatment and flight training, these raptors regained their strength and ability to thrive in the wild. Black Kite is an endangered species affected by habitat destruction, and illegal wildlife trade poses significant threats to their population. This release is a vital step in ecosystem preservation.

The release event commenced with a traditional prayer ceremony, emphasizing the spiritual significance of returning these majestic birds to their natural biosphere, followed by welcoming remarks where key representatives from FNPF and local authorities expressed their gratitude and commitment to wildlife conservation. The highlight of the event, the release ceremony, saw the three rehabilitated Black Kites soar into the skies of Nusa Penida, marking a milestone in their journey back to nature. The event concluded with a closing session, reinforcing the collective responsibility towards environmental conservation.
The ceremony was attended by various stakeholders, including FNPF staff and volunteers from both Bali and Nusa Penida, government representatives, conservation NGOs, and local community leaders. Among the notable attendees were representatives from BKSDA Bali, the Head of Nusa Penida Sub-District, the Chief of Nusa Penida Police, and local village authorities. Amongst the participants, NGOs such as Nusansa Pulau Coral Group, Marine Mega Fauna Lembongan, Indo Ocean Project, and Green Lion demonstrated a strong collaborative effort towards wildlife preservation.
Sebastien Menesguen, General Manager of MĀUA Nusa Penida, shared his thoughts on the event, "We are incredibly proud to support such a significant conservation effort. Hosting the release of these rehabilitated Black Kites aligns with our commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship. We hope this initiative inspires more collective action towards preserving Nusa Penida's rich biodiversity."

Drh. Bayu Wirayudha, FNPF Founder and Director, highlighted the importance of continuous conservation work, "Rehabilitating and releasing wildlife" is only one part of the bigger mission. We must continue our efforts in habitat protection and community engagement to ensure these birds and other wildlife can thrive in their natural environment.
The event also received strong support from the local government. I Gede Putu Ariyanta, Head of BKSDA Bali, stated, "This collaboration highlights the shared responsibility in protecting our environment. We appreciate the commitment of FNPF and MĀUA Nusa Penida in facilitating this conservation initiative. Let this activity remind us of the importance of preserving our natural heritage and environment for future generations."
MĀUA Nusa Penida is honoured to be part of this meaningful initiative, supporting conservation programs that contribute to the richness of the island's natural heritage. The successful release of these Black Kites underscores the importance of rehabilitation and habitat protection in ensuring the survival of endangered wildlife.
