Regenerative pioneers and internationally acclaimed on the bar scene, Penicillin is the first sustainable bar in Hong Kong’s metropolitan jungle. Led by Indonesian couple Laura and Agung Prabowo, from Borneo and Jakarta respectively, the bar has fostered a global community focused on innovation from tradition, crafting artisanal spirits from scratch while sourcing from local producers.
Penicillin is Hong Kong’s first ‘closed-loop’ bar, born during the pandemic as a small, laboratory-style hub. The venue showcases local and upcycled ingredients, as well as a range of organic ferments from their in-house climate-controlled fermentation enclosure, The Stinky Room.
Within walking distance of their flagship venue, the team behind Penicillin extends the same ethos to their newest venue, The Lockdown. Here, they take guests back 100 years to an environment inspired by the prohibition era. Rebels at heart, they represent a revolutionary approach to mixology, leaving a sustainable imprint on today’s cocktail culture.
