The Multi-Grammy Award Nominee returns to Bali with his full jazz ensemble, debuting at Padma Musical Series

The Padma Musical Series and Blibli proudly presents one of its most anticipated events of the year, welcoming our biggest guest of the series so far in Jazz, internationally acclaimed pianist and composer Joey Alexander. Joined by his full band from the United States, this special performance offers audiences a rare opportunity to experience his music in its most authentic and fully realized form. This landmark concert celebrates not only his extraordinary artistic journey but also Padma Musical Series’ continued commitment to presenting world-class musicians in an intimate and inspiring setting.

JOEY ALEXANDER (Indonesia) - Originally from Bali, Joey Alexander emerged as one of the most compelling voices in contemporary jazz at an astonishingly young age, drawing early acclaim from legends such as Herbie Hancock and rapidly establishing an international presence. His subsequent move to the United States marked the beginning of a remarkable ascent, defined by artistic maturity well beyond his years and a distinctive musical identity.

In the years since, Joey has continued to refine his voice through a series of critically acclaimed recordings, including Origin and Continuance, works that underscore his evolution as both a composer and bandleader. Still in his early twenties, he has already received multiple Grammy nominations, performed on the Grammy stage, and been featured on platforms such as NPR’s Tiny Desk and CBS’s 60 Minutes, cementing his place among the leading figures of his generation.

This performance introduces a new dimension to his live work, as Joey appears with his own band from the United States, an ensemble drawn from the New York jazz scene with whom he continues to shape his current sound. Their presence brings a deeper sense of cohesion and interplay, offering audiences a rare insight into the musical language he has developed abroad.

Following a history of sold-out appearances at the Padma Musical Series, this return promises not only a homecoming of sorts, but a more expansive and fully realised artistic statement, one that reflects Joey’s journey from prodigious talent to a mature and globally recognised artist.

DANIEL WINSHALL (USA) - a New York–based jazz bassist known for his expressive playing on both upright and electric bass. Originally from Boston, he began performing professionally at a young age and quickly established himself on the jazz scene, going on to study at The New School for Contemporary Jazz. A versatile and in-demand musician, he has shared stages with artists such as Wynton Marsalis and Keyon Harrold, and performs regularly at leading New York venues including Smalls Jazz Club and Arthur’s Tavern. Blending strong groove, musical sensitivity, and stylistic range, Winshall continues to build a reputation as a compelling voice in contemporary jazz.

KUBA SKOWROŃSKI (Polandia) - a Polish-born saxophonist whose work bridges European jazz training with the vibrant energy of Indonesia’s live music scene. After first performing in the country at the Ubud Village Jazz Festival, he has continued to develop his presence locally through collaborations and performances. Known for a thoughtful and expressive approach to the saxophone, his playing balances technical precision with a sense of musical openness, reflecting a cross-cultural perspective shaped by his international journey.

TYSON D. JACKSON (USA) - a drummer, composer, and educator from West Palm Beach, Florida, whose passion for music began at the age of three, first discovered in the church at New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church. A Berklee College of Music graduate (BM ’19, MM ’20), he has developed his craft through mentorship with leading artists including Dee Dee Bridgewater, Terence Blanchard, Terri Lyne Carrington, and Tia Fuller. Deeply rooted in both jazz and gospel traditions, Jackson approaches music as a vessel for connection and expression, combining respect for the masters with a forward-thinking artistic voice aimed at inspiring and impacting listeners.

Together, these exceptional musicians will present an evening that transcends a traditional jazz concert, offering a deeply immersive musical experience shaped by artistry, collaboration, and cultural dialogue. Joey Alexander’s return to Bali marks a meaningful homecoming, reflecting his evolution from a prodigious young talent into a mature and globally celebrated artist. Joined by his trusted ensemble, the performance promises a dynamic interplay of improvisation and storytelling, inviting audiences to witness the rich musical language he has developed on the international stage.
