Immerse into the rich & colourful Balinese culture in an engaging way. This is a beautiful opportunity to learn about the local philosphy, rituals, community life & more, as well as to ask any questions or curiosities that you are eager to ask.
The mission is to connect individuals deeper with the ancient indigenous wisdom of this land, to foster devotion, and give valuable knowledge on rituals that can be implemented into your daily life! You will also take away with you vocabulary to help you navigate life on the island. Finally, the class is concluded with a temple visit, where you can directly apply the teachings of the day.
This event happens every second Thursday from 11am to 2pm.

Structure
11 AM • Balinese Culture Class and Q&A at Villa Bodensee
1 PM • Short walk through the historical village of Bedulu, temple visit & giving offerings
2 PM • Optional: Visit Purnama's family home and Balinese lunch
Contribution
250'000 IDR includes reading material, offerings and homemade Balinese sweets & tea
Per ticket sold, 50'000 IDR go to a local charity (varies monthly between Sungai Watch, Bali Street Mums & Kids or Yayasan Widya Guna, a school for children with special needs in Bedulu)
Optional Balinese vegetarian or vegan lunch 50k, including jamu or fruit juice
About Purnama
Purnama is a Balinese-Swiss medicine musician & ceremonialist. Descended from a lineage of Balinese priests and temple keepers, she has inherited a rich spiritual heritage that imbues her work with a sense of reverence. Having spent a significant portion of her life in the West and traveling across the globe, Purnama is skillful in bridging cultural divides and conveying the essence of Balinese spirituality in an accessible and relatable manner. Through her work, Purnama aims to preserve the indigenous philosophy for generations to come. She has already touch countless individuals, encouraging to embrace the ancient wisdom of Bali, and therefore helping to shift the trajectory of how the island is viewed and experienced by foreigners.
She has previously spoken or presented the Balinese Cultures at events such as BaliSpirit Fest, Suara Festival, with the kirtan group Hanuman Project, and many more.
