From 13 to 17 August 2026, Jia CURATED, the annual immersive event dedicated to craft, design and culture, returns to Bali with an exciting new setting and an expanded programme.

A NEW BEACHFRONT VENUE

For its 2026 edition, Jia CURATED moves to Pengembak Beach, Sanur, occupying a 15,000 sqm beachfront site framed by pine trees and mangroves along Bali’s eastern shoreline. Open to both sunrise and sunset - a rare alignment in Bali - the location offers uninterrupted horizon views throughout the day, creating a dynamic natural backdrop for the exhibition, installations, performances and gatherings.

Shaped by sand, stone, sea and shifting light, this new venue marks a deliberate shift in how the event approaches place and context. The natural features and constraints of the site directly inform the curatorial direction, encouraging participants to respond intuitively to the surrounding raw environment, opening fresh creative possibilities for participants and new ways for audiences to experience the event.

These conditions resonate deeply with this year’s theme, Nature Weave, which explores the interconnected relationships between people, design and natural systems. Rather than imposing form onto space, the new 2026 location invites designers to listen to what is already present, allowing materials, structures and spatial interventions to emerge in dialogue with the landscape.

THE 2026 THEME: NATURE WEAVE
Beautifully illustrated by Argentinian digital mixed media artist SARES, Nature Weave highlights the deep, interconnected relationship between people and the natural world, encouraging design that responds not only to form and texture but to the underlying systems of nature. Rooted in the concept of biophilia, it emphasises the emotional and psychological benefits of integrating natural elements into our environments and urban settings.

The theme reframes design as a practice of coexistence, created not just for people but in dialogue with landscapes and ecosystems. By weaving nature into the creative process, design becomes more intuitive, responsible and sustainable, supporting more thoughtful and connected ways of living.

EXPANDED PROGRAMME AND INTERNATIONAL PARTICIPATION

The 2026 edition will present over 250 participating brands, featuring both Indonesian and international designers and brands. Exhibitors include Indonesian names such as alvinT, Ong Cen Kuang and Blancostudio, alongside international names like Wedi Okbe Designs Studio (Germany), Ifuji (Japan) and Eight to Eight Studio (Taiwan).

Lamitak, Asia’s leading high pressure surfacing laminates manufacturer and Main Partner of Jia CURATED 2026, will present an installation by DDAP Architect, underscoring its commitment to innovation and collaboration within the regional design community.

Further additions include a new space dedicated to emerging designers, an expanded Media Lounge, and a series of large-scale installations and initiatives that further enhance the immersive character of the event.

SPOTLIGHT ON: PHILIPPINES

Each year, Jia CURATED offers complimentary exhibition space to countries in the region identified as emerging centres of creativity and innovation. In 2026, the Philippines is spotlighted through a curated exhibition titled Tomorrow, led by guest curator Gabriel Lichauco of NEWFOLK.

Tomorrow explores the theme of reconnecting with the Earth, framing design as a dialogue between nature and its interpreters. Featuring collaborations between twelve designers and ten Filipino craft workshops, the exhibition merges indigenous traditions with contemporary design thinking. Rooted in sustainability and cultural heritage, the works reflect innovative approaches to coexistence with the natural environment and invite audiences to reconsider how design can foster a more balanced relationship with the planet.

RETURNING INITIATIVES
Waste to Wonder 2.0

Following its successful launch in 2025, Waste to Wonder returns on a larger scale in 2026, expanding across both Jia Wantilan and the Media Lounge. The initiative continues Jia CURATED’s commitment to circular design principles, encouraging exhibitors and partners to reimagine waste materials as valuable resources.

Architecture in Scale

Architecture in Scale, this year curated by acclaimed design journalist and writer Charmaine Chan, will showcase detailed architectural models of completed projects by studios from Indonesia and wider Asia, highlighting best practices across the region and examining the challenges faced during the design and delivery process.

360° Design Dialogues

The talks programme 360° Design Dialogues, curated by Design Anthology, returns to Jia CURATED in 2026 with a more diverse and inclusive group of panellists, representing voices from Indonesia and around the world - inviting reflection, exchange, and new insight and emphasising inclusivity, collaboration, and depth.

Additional programme highlights, including collaborations and special projects, will be announced in the lead-up to the event.

A PLATFORM FOR COLLECTIVE CREATIVITY

Rooted in the Indonesian principle of Gotong Royong - mutual cooperation - Jia CURATED continues to celebrate collective strength and shared creative journeys.

Jia CURATED Co-Founder Budiman Ong says:

“Over the past few years, we have been uncovering the layers of the JIA CURATED identity, and maturing in the process. This year, we are not only reflecting inwardly but also looking outward, contemplating our environment and our role in its preservation. Nature Weave serves as a timely response to current global issues, concentrating on our intentions and mindset.

We are thrilled by how participants are responding to the theme and the new venue, Pengembak Beach. While our ambitions remain unchanged - highlight Indonesia’s creative talent, support the local creative sector and create a platform for Asia’s design communities to come together - we are very excited about the new and different features and approaches that the upcoming edition will encourage.”

Once again, Jia CURATED aims to bring together designers, makers, artists, thought leaders, professionals and the wider public for a long weekend of meaningful exchange. Moving beyond the format of a traditional trade show, the event creates an experiential platform where creative practitioners can connect, fostering both commercial opportunities and cultural dialogue.”

In addition to the main displays and talks programme, visitors can experience music and cultural performances alongside a curated food and beverage offering.

ROAD TO JIA CURATED - TOKYO EDITION

Ahead of the main event in Bali, Jia CURATED 2026 will launch internationally with Road to Jia CURATED, an exhibition running from 2–19 April 2026 at (PLACE) by method, Tokyo.

A testament to the growing international influence of Jia CURATED and its ambition to connect communities beyond Indonesia, the Tokyo exhibition will feature selected works from participating designers and introduce the 2026 theme to a global audience. A public talk with leading Asian designers will further explore contemporary design challenges and cross-cultural collaboration.*
