Less than a year after an evening dedicated to generosity brought together business leaders, philanthropists, and partners from across Indonesia, Sofitel Bali Nusa Dua Beach Resort proudly celebrated the official opening of a new school in Southwest Sumba, built in collaboration with Bali Life Foundation.
Held on 15 July 2026, the inauguration marked the completion of a project that began with a shared belief: that one evening of giving could create opportunities that last for generations. Today, that vision stands as a vibrant learning space for the children of the Tambolaka community, providing them with a safe environment to learn, grow, and dream.
The ceremony was officiated by the Regent of Southwest Sumba, Mrs. Ratu Ngadu Bonu Wulla, and attended by representatives from Sofitel Bali Nusa Dua Beach Resort, including Jean-Pierre Joncas, General Manager; Nia Edward, Director of People & Culture; and Aulianty Fellina, Senior Director of Marketing Communications & PR, alongside the Bali Life Foundation team, local community leaders, teachers, students, and residents who gathered to celebrate this meaningful milestone.

Today, we are opening the doors to a school that will shape the future of countless children. This is proof that when people come together with kindness and purpose, we can create something that truly changes lives. The school was made possible through funds raised during Sofitel Bali Nusa Dua Beach Resort’s inaugural charity gala, “An Evening of Elegance & Empathy,” held on 14 November 2025. The event brought together the hospitality industry, corporate partners, media, and philanthropists, successfully raising IDR 500,000,000 (approximately USD 30,000). Every rupiah raised was dedicated to supporting Bali Life Foundation’s mission of providing education and opportunities for underprivileged communities.
For Bali Life Foundation, the new school represents more than just a building, it is a place where children can discover their potential, pursue their education, and build brighter futures.
Building on the success of this initiative, Sofitel Bali Nusa Dua Beach Resort will continue its commitment to creating meaningful impact through the second edition of its annual charity gala, “An Evening of Purpose & Possibility,” on 11 December 2026. Once again partnering with Bali Life Foundation, the evening will bring together the hospitality community, corporate leaders, and generous supporters to help create new opportunities for children and families across Indonesia.
