Arriba proudly presents Sensory Scapes, an innovative event series that explores the intersection of space, music, and sensory experiences. Each event will feature live music across diverse genres, dynamically responding to the lush jungle and river views that surround Arriba. The performances will be complemented by bespoke cocktails, carefully crafted to enhance the music and scenery, creating an immersive experience that delights the senses— stimulating the eyes, the ears, and the palate.

Sensory Scapes #01 Day of The Dead Celebration by The Hills of Sayan

The inaugural Sensory Scapes event will take place on Saturday, 2 November 2024 from 4 PM - 8 PM at Arriba and will take on a heartfelt theme of El Día de Muertos (the Day of the Dead); a traditional Mexican celebration, celebrated annually on 1-2 November, that brings family and friends together to honour and remember loved ones who have passed.

On El Día de Muertos, it is believed that the boundary between the spirit world and the living world dissolves, allowing the souls of the departed to return and reunite with their loved ones; to feast, dance, drink, and play music, transforming grief into a joyful celebration.

Sensory Scapes #01 invites guests on a journey that embraces the essence of life and celebration. The event will feature live performances by live band, Neo & Friends and DJ, Seabass, each delivering their unique musical styles with a subtle Mexican flair. As the sun sets, Neo & Friends will set the mood with their magical sonic chemistry, blending traditional string instruments like the Kora and Ghimbri with the modern sounds of electric drums, creating a festive atmosphere that mirrors the spirit of El Día de Muertos.

As night falls, Seabass will take guests through a diverse selection of tunes ranging from Balearic, disco, techno, house, rock, pop, and psychedelic music, embodying the festive spirit that makes El Día de Muertos a heartfelt celebration in Mexican culture. the ears, and the palate.

Specially-Crafted Cocktails by Aditya Yonida

Arriba’s Bar Manager, Aditya Yonida, will elevate the festivities with two exclusive cocktails crafted specifically for this event, featuring Don Julio Blanco tequila. Made from the finest blue agave and distilled using a time-honoured process, Don Julio Blanco is tequila in its purest form. Often called “silver” tequila, its crisp agave flavour with subtle hints of citrus make it the perfect base for creating innovative and refreshing cocktails.

 

Wind’s Whisper at Arriba

 

WIND’S WHISPER (IDR 160,000++ / glass) is a tribute to El Día de Muertos, inspired by the wind— a wandering spirit that drifts between worlds as the boundaries between the living and the departed fade. With a Don Julio Blanco tequila base, this cocktail combines the delicate sweetness of lychee, the warmth of agave, and the crisp brightness of clarified citrus, all elevated by a refreshing splash of soda water. Each sip honours the spirits returning to celebrate with the living on this special day.

 

La Sangre Viva at Arriba

 

LA SANGRE VIVA (IDR 160,000++ / glass) draws inspiration from the marigold petals that guide the souls of the departed back to the living, and the vibrant ofrendas (altars) filled with offerings. This cocktail symbolises the beauty and joy of life with a bold mix of Don Julio Blanco tequila, agave and tomato juice. Deep red like blood, the tomato juice signifies life itself, adding richness and intensity to the drink. It’s a cocktail that celebrates life and serves as an offering to the spirits, meant to be savoured while remembering and honouring those who came before

In addition to the bespoke cocktails above, guests can also enjoy exclusive drinks promotion on the day:

  • Marigold Clerico; a refreshing take on the classic sangria, available in Rojo (red) or Blanco (white), both infused with homemade marigold syrup, gin, topped with tropical fruits. Priced at IDR 450,000++ per jar, serves up to 5 glasses.

  • Tequila Tray at IDR 500,000++ for 4 shots of Don Julio Blanco tequila

  • Alongside the bespoke cocktails, guests will also enjoy complimentary Mexican-inspired canapés curated by Executive Chef Mauro Santarelli from 4 PM to 6 PM.

Sensory Scapes #01 transforms the spirit of El Día de Muertos into a sensory journey that celebrates life, memory, and connection. Blending music, nature, and mixology artistry, each element is thoughtfully crafted to create a deeply immersive experience. As guests sip on bespoke cocktails, savour Mexican-inspired bites, and take in the rhythmic beats of live performances, they are invited to explore the convergence of sound, taste, and the breathtaking natural surroundings of Arriba.
