Aryaduta Bali’s Asta Karya 2024 Explores Batik as a Medium for Creative Expression and Its Digital Future

Aryaduta Hotel Group is excited to announce its annual Asta Karya campaign, a vibrant celebration of Indonesia's rich artistic heritage. This year’s spotlight is on “Batik,” a traditional textile art form renowned for its intricate patterns and cultural significance. Aryaduta Bali will host a special event on October 19, 2024, dedicated to exploring contemporary Batik as a medium for creative expression.

The event will feature a variety of activities. Attendees can enjoy a vibrant fashion and music talent show, supported by The Model Management, featuring a variety of performances. Followed by a special batik fashion show featuring a batik minahasa collection created by Marselianggi and a special batik collection between Marselianggi and Yayasan Peduli Kemanusiaan. This special collection will also include an exclusive batik scarf that will be available for purchase. All proceeds from the sale of these scarves will be donated to Yayasan Peduli Kemanusiaan to support their initiatives to help children in need. Aryaduta Bali invites all event attendees, guests and social media followers to purchase the scarf as a meaningful contribution to this cause.

The centrepiece of the day will be a panel discussion titled "How can Batik be preserved in the digital world?". This discussion will address the critical question of how batik, a cherished cultural heritage, can be preserved and adapted in the digital age. The talk show will feature a distinguished panel of speakers, including a representative from the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, fashion industry experts, foundation chairwoman of the Yayasan Peduli Kemanusiaan. They will provide valuable insights into the challenges and opportunities of integrating batik into the digital landscape. There will also be a sharing session to provide networking opportunities between attendees and speakers. This will include a dedicated coffee break where participants, including MSMEs facing business challenges, can gain valuable insights and advice from the experts. The aim is to facilitate meaningful connections and offer practical support to those looking to navigate the evolving landscape of their industries.

The event will also feature an exciting batik competition in partnership with Wacom Indonesia and Datascrip. The competition will highlight innovative approaches to batik design and encourage participants to combine traditional techniques with digital creativity. Participants will have 1-2 hours to design their batik creations using Wacom's innovative tools. The winner of the competition will receive a Wacom device as a grand prize, as well as vouchers from Aryaduta Bali. Wacom, known for its interactive pen displays, pen tablets, pens and apps, is dedicated to empowering and inspiring creativity.
