Chinese New Year, also known as Lunar New Year, is a season shaped by symbolism, intention, and togetherness. At Mulia Bali, the occasion is observed through a curated programme that honours tradition while harmonising with the tranquil rhythm of our beachfront retreat.
In 2026, the celebration marks the arrival of the Year of the Fire Horse, a zodiac year traditionally associated with vitality, independence, and forward momentum. Rather than spectacle, the resort’s approach centres on meaningful moments that guests may experience at their own pace.
An evening of brush and meaning: Chinese calligraphy
On 16 February (Chinese New Year’s Eve), guests are invited to experience the art of Chinese calligraphy from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm in the Cannelé outdoor area.
Calligraphy is a deeply symbolic practice. Each character carries intention, often expressing wishes for harmony, prosperity, or renewal in the year ahead. Guests may observe the process or request personalised characters, making this a reflective way to mark the final evening of the year.
Set outdoors, the experience remains informal and unhurried, allowing guests to pause, observe, and appreciate the craft.
Hanfu photo moments
As part of the celebration, guests may enjoy a Hanfu photo opportunity, donning traditional Chinese attire renowned for its flowing silhouettes and historical significance. This experience is designed as a visual keepsake rather than a performance, offering a respectful way to engage with cultural heritage.
Families and couples often enjoy capturing these moments, though participation remains entirely optional. Available on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day (February 16 & 17).
Lion Dance on Lunar New Year’s Day
On 17 February (Lunar New Year’s Day), the Lion Dance will take place across select restaurants and the lobby area, with exact timing to be announced as the date approaches.
Traditionally performed to usher in positive energy and mark new beginnings, the Lion Dance is seamlessly woven into the resort's flow rather than staged as a single focal event. Guests may encounter the performance naturally as they move through the day, reflecting how celebrations unfold in daily life.
Festive dining and seasonal offerings
Chinese New Year at Mulia Bali is also expressed through inspired culinary experiences and seasonal gifting. Highlights include festive dining at Table8, where specially curated menus reflect classic flavours and celebratory dishes associated with the New Year.
In addition, Chinese New Year hampers and holiday offerings are available for guests wishing to share the spirit of the season with family, friends, or business associates. Thoughtfully presented, these gifts reflect themes of abundance, generosity, and refinement.
A celebration guided by balance
Rather than concentrating festivities into a single evening, Chinese New Year at Mulia Bali unfolds across moments and settings. Guests may choose to participate actively or simply observe, enjoying the atmosphere as it moves gently through the resort.
In welcoming the Year of the Fire Horse, the celebration remains grounded in intention and respect—offering space for renewal while preserving the quiet elegance that defines the Mulia Bali experience.
