As Kappa Senses Ubud approaches its fourth anniversary on 22 September 2026, the resort celebrates four years of meaningful moments with a renewed commitment to the environment and the communities that surround it.
Under the anniversary theme “Hope for the Future, A Greener Purpose Ahead,” Kappa Senses Ubud is marking this milestone with a series of environmental and community initiatives, anchored by a commitment to plant 4,000 trees across Bali in 2026.
4,000 Trees, One Shared Purpose, the 4,000-tree commitment extends Kappa Senses Ubud’s positive impact beyond the resort, bringing together mangrove conservation, community support, and tree planting in areas close to home. The programme unfolds across three key landscapes: the coast, East Bali, and the communities surrounding the resort.
Along the coast, Kappa Senses Ubud will conduct a mangrove seed planting activity on 12 September 2026 at Wana Segara Kertih in Kedonganan, in collaboration with the local fishermen community.
In East Bali, the initiative reaches wider communities through the donation of trees and seeds to four foundations (distributed in February 2026):
• Panti Asuhan Yayasan Yasa Kerti
• LKSA Widhya Asih Amlapura
• Panti Asuhan Semara Putra
• Masjid Agung Al -A'la Gianyar
Closer to home, the resort strengthens its connection with neighbouring communities by planting forty (40) trees around Banjar Tanggayuda and additional trees at SD Negeri 4 Kedewatan, the local school in the community where Kappa Senses Ubud resides.
Together, these efforts reflect the resort’s belief that meaningful sustainability begins close to home, by nurturing the environment and communities that form part of its everyday journey.
Planting Hope Along Bali’s Coast, the mangrove planting at Wana Segara Kertih forms a cornerstone of the anniversary initiative and a natural starting point for the resort’s greener purpose.
Established by a group of fishermen in Jimbaran, this conservation area was created in response to the community’s recognition of the critical role mangrove forests play in protecting vulnerable coastlines from abrasion and restoring degraded areas.
The planting will feature Rhizophora mucronata mangrove seedlings. Mangroves:
• Reduce coastal erosion and wave impact
• Protect marine ecosystems
• Provide habitats for fish, crabs, and birds
• Support the long-term sustainability of coastal livelihoods
Wana Segara Kertih also demonstrates how conservation can create a sustainable cycle for the community. Local fishermen cultivate and sell mangrove seedlings, with proceeds reinvested into daily operations, conservation and replanting activities, and the maintenance and expansion of the mangrove area.
As Bali experiences increasingly heavy rainfall and flooding, healthy and resilient ecosystems become ever more vital. Trees help absorb rainwater, strengthen soil, and support biodiversity, while restored green areas contribute to more resilient landscapes.
For Kappa Senses Ubud, the fourth anniversary is therefore not only a celebration of the past four years—it is an opportunity to look ahead and take meaningful action for the future, beginning with the protection of Bali’s coastlines and extending to the island’s inland communities.
