Anantara Ubud Bali Resort invites guests to discover the authentic heart of Bali with the launch of the Payangan Sidecar Journey, a new Signature Experience that showcases the timeless beauty, culture and community of Payangan aboard a classic sidecar.
Created for travellers seeking meaningful connections with the destination, the experience winds through the picturesque villages of Bukian, Puhu and Kebek, where emerald rice terraces, traditional family compounds and the gentle rhythm of daily life offer an intimate glimpse into Bali's enduring culture. Accompanied by a knowledgeable local host, guests travel at a leisurely pace along quiet country roads while discovering the landscapes, traditions and warm hospitality that define the spirit of Payangan.

Available as a leisurely 30 to 45-minute countryside journey or an extended experience paired with a private countryside picnic, the Payangan Sidecar Journey embodies Anantara's philosophy of connecting guests with the people, culture and natural beauty that make every destination unique.
The extended Payangan Sidecar Journey with Picnic concludes in Begawan Village, where guests are welcomed to a private rice field and traditional Balinese family compound for a thoughtfully prepared three-course picnic surrounded by tranquil rural scenery. The menu features a selection of dishes, including Sate Maranggi, tamarind-marinated beef ribeye skewers, and Bebek Goreng Sambal Madura, crispy duck leg with sambal kluwek, complemented by a choice of desserts and refreshing beverages.
"At Anantara, our Signature Experiences are designed to create meaningful connections with the destination. The Payangan Sidecar Journey invites guests to experience Payangan through local eyes, discovering its villages, landscapes and traditions while creating lasting memories inspired by the authentic spirit of Bali," said Santiago Sagaz, General Manager of Anantara Ubud Bali Resort.

For Made Warnata, Director of Spa, Wellness and Recreation, the journey is deeply personal. "Payangan has always been my home, and every village, rice field and quiet road has its own story. It is a pleasure to welcome guests into my community, share the beauty of our countryside and invite them to my family's rice field for a picnic. I hope every journey leaves guests with a genuine connection to the people, traditions and spirit of Bali."
Departures are recommended between 8.00 am and 10.00 am, or from 3.30 pm, with the last departure at 4.00 pm, allowing guests to experience the countryside during the day's most pleasant hours. Suitable for adults, couples and families with children aged five years and above, the experience accommodates a maximum of two guests per departure, ensuring a personalised and intimate journey.
The Payangan Sidecar Journey joins Anantara Ubud Bali Resort's growing collection of Signature Experiences, celebrating authentic local culture through thoughtfully curated journeys that inspire exploration, connection and unforgettable memories.
