Every Thursday evening, as the sun begins its slow retreat behind the palms of Jimbaran, a gentle buzz stirs around Jejala Pool Bar at Mövenpick Resort & Spa Jimbaran Bali. The scent of kitchen grill, sizzling meats, and Jimbaran bay breeze fills the air, an invitation to slow down and simply enjoy. This is Grill & Chill by the Pool, a relaxed and flavor-packed dining experience set beneath the open sky.

 

From 6.30 to 10 p.m., the space transforms into a casual, open-air barbecue setting where time slows down and appetites grow. At the heart of the experience is the grill, here you will find chefs work over open flames, turning out plate after plate of smoky, flavorful dishes prepared fresh to order.

 

There’s no rush here. Guests are encouraged to take their time, beginning perhaps at the salad bar, a generous spread of vibrant greens, grilled vegetables, and marinated delights. Bowls of rucola, baby tomatoes, confit eggplant, and pickled mushrooms offer something fresh and zesty for every taste. Homemade dressings from Japanese soy to lemon vinaigrette, add the finishing touch, while baskets of warm bread rolls quietly tempt at the table.

 

 

Near the grill, chefs are in their element. Flames dance as they sear baby squid filled with herbed meat, ribs glazed to a rich sheen, and tender cuts of beef topped with chimichurri. Yellowtail fillets are cooked gently and served with a light sauce vierge, while skewers of prawns, chicken sate, and vegetables pass from the grill to the plate with practiced ease. Each dish carries the smoky imprint of the fire, balanced with thoughtful sides like baked potatoes with béchamel and cheese, ratatouille, and sautéed mushrooms with a hint of garlic and thyme. The pasta station brings its own charm, penne served in a creamy rock lobster sauce, comforting and familiar, yet dressed up for the occasion with parmesan, capers, or a touch of chili.

 

What makes this evening even more enjoyable is the unlimited à la carte menu, available throughout. Guests order at their own pace, maybe a Mediterranean salad with yellowtail and pickles to start, followed by a bowl of Provencal fish soup, rich and aromatic. For mains, a plate of grilled pork belly or a tender beef piccata layered over gratinated potatoes hits the spot.

 

 

Then comes dessert, and suddenly the table grows quiet for a moment. There’s strawberry tiramisu with lemon zest, a silky duo of milk and white chocolate mousse, and sago pudding folded with coconut and mango. A crisp pavlova arrives with fruit minestrone and a scoop of sorbet, fresh mint on top. There’s even cotton candy, because why not? Sometimes it’s the playful touches that linger.

 

Priced at Rp388,000 per adult and Rp194,000 for children under 12, Grill & Chill is easy to enjoy with family or friends. Little ones under five eat free, which only adds to the warm and welcoming atmosphere that Mövenpick Resort & Spa Jimbaran Bali does so well.
