The Day of Silence
When Nyepi officially begins, the entire island pauses for 24 hours. The observance follows four key principles known as Catur Brata Penyepian:
-Amati Geni – No fire or light
-Amati Karya – No working
-Amati Lelungan – No traveling
-Amati Lelanguan – No entertainment
Even the airport closes, streets become empty, and lights are dimmed across the island. It is a rare moment in today’s world where an entire destination embraces silence together. The purpose is to reflect, meditate, and reset, allowing harmony between humanity, nature, and the spiritual realm.
