A Celebration of Indonesian Heritage and Global Gastronomy Unites at The Meru Sanur & Bali Beach Hotel – The Heritage Collection.

The Meru Sanur and Bali Beach Hotel The Heritage Collection proudly present a three-day culinary celebration this September, honoring the depth and diversity of Indonesia’s gastronomic heritage while embracing world-class international cuisine. Collaborating with the region’s most renowned chefs alongside distinguished international culinary experts.

 

The celebration begins on 28 September with Frühschoppen, a German themed Sunday brunch that brings a taste of Europe to Bali. Guests can enjoy an array of Bavarian inspired dishes, artisanal breads, premium sausages, and cheeses, paired with refreshing local touches. With a complimentary welcome beer to set the tone, this brunch reimagines a beloved European dining tradition in a warm and tropical setting. Prices start at IDR 550,000++ per person for the non-alcohol package and IDR 1,100,000++ per person for the alcohol-inclusive package.

 

On 29 September, the spotlight turns to Bali Beach Bar & Grill for the Culinary Sunset BBQ, a refined seaside dining experience led by three culinary luminaries. Among them is Chef William Wongso, a globally respected authority on authentic Indonesian cuisine who serves as a culinary advisor to the Presidential Secretariat Office, Garuda Indonesia, and internationally acclaimed chef Gordon Ramsay. His award-winning book, Flavours of Indonesia, which earned Best Book of the Year at the 2017 Gourmand World Cookbook Awards, solidified his reputation as a true ambassador of Indonesian gastronomy. 

 

Joining him is Chef Herman den Blijker, one of the Netherlands’ most celebrated chefs and television personalities, renowned for managing 12 successful restaurants and admired for his bold, distinctive style and commitment to culinary excellence. Completing this exceptional trio is Chef Marco Medaglia, Executive Chef of The Meru Sanur and Bali Beach Hotel The Heritage Collection, an Italian-born chef whose global career spans Los Angeles, Hong Kong, Dubai, and Indonesia. Together, these culinary masters will elevate a classic barbecue into a sophisticated gastronomic showcase set against the stunning backdrop of the Bali sunset.

 

The series concludes on 30 September at Roso Restaurant with A Journey Through the Archipelago, an exclusive chef collaboration that celebrates the culinary diversity of Indonesia’s Western, Central, and Eastern regions. Leading the showcase is Chef Jovan Koraag, a Manado-born chef acclaimed for his mastery of Manadonese cuisine and owner of Mata Kranjang, a restaurant dedicated to authentic flavors from his homeland.

 

He will be joined by Chef Fernando Sindu, Chef Partner of UNION Group and Head of Culinary at Cork & Screw, a graduate of the prestigious Culinary Institute of America with experience in Michelin-starred Oceana and as Head Chef at Boqueria in New York, where he honed his expertise in global culinary techniques. Completing this talented trio is Chef Prima Udayana, Executive Sous Chef of The Meru Sanur and Bali Beach Hotel The Heritage Collection, who also leads Roso Restaurant, the hotel’s signature Indonesian restaurant. Chef Prima is known for his ability to blend tradition with modern refinement, transforming Indonesia’s heritage recipes into refined creations that celebrate the archipelago’s rich culinary legacy.

 

The events on 29 and 30 September are part of the Wonderful Indonesia Gourmet, an initiative by Indonesia’s Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy to position the nation as a global culinary destination. Celebrating Indonesia’s rich cultural diversity and bold flavors, WIG showcases the country’s culinary heritage through world-class dining events, chef collaborations, and curated experiences. Its mission is to promote Indonesian cuisine internationally, attract premium tourism, and foster cultural pride by elevating local ingredients and traditional recipes to the global stage.
