A Culinary Journey Begins in Bangli

The journey commences with the Bangli Edition, the hometown of COMO Uma Canggu’s Executive Chef, Kadek Sugiantara. This two-month culinary showcase invites guests to immerse themselves in Bangli’s heritage, from its iconic dishes to its time-honoured customs. This special menu will be available from February 7th to March 31st 2025. Guests will experience a carefully curated set menu highlighting Bangli cuisine during this exclusive period. Chef Kadek Sugiantara has curated a menu that reflects his deep-rooted connection to the region. Signature offerings include Loloh Cemcem, a refreshing herbal drink; Mujair Nyat Nyat, a savoury fish dish infused with rich Balinese spices; Betutu Keren khas Bangli, a slow-cooked spiced chicken; and desserts like Jaje Abug, made from rice flour and palm sugar. Each dish embodies the authentic essence of Bangli, crafted with local ingredients and traditional cooking methods.

“Bangli holds a special place in my heart as it’s where I grew up,” said Chef Kadek Sugiantara, Executive Chef of COMO Uma Canggu. “Through this menu, I hope to share the flavours of my childhood and the vibrant culinary traditions of my hometown, offering guests a true taste of Bali’s heritage.” He added, “This initiative allows us to bring Bangli’s culture to life, showcasing its unique dishes and ingredients in a contemporary dining experience.”

The culinary journey is enhanced by the serene landscapes of Bangli, which include lush rice terraces, volcanic terrains, and the iconic Mount Batur and Lake Batur, a UNESCO Global Geopark. Henry Scott, General Manager of COMO Uma Canggu, said, “This is an incredible opportunity to highlight Bangli’s rich culinary and cultural heritage while offering our guests an immersive and unforgettable dining experience that reflects the heart of Bali.” The Bali Aga culture, with its ancient customs and ceremonies, further enriches the experience.
