In Jakarta, brunch has evolved into more than just a meal — it’s a weekend ritual for the city’s urban hustlers. After a packed week of deadlines, traffic, and non-stop activity, many Jakartans look forward to slowing down on Saturday and Sunday mornings. Brunch offers that perfect blend of “me time” and social reconnection, whether it's with close friends, colleagues, or simply a quiet moment to unwind.

The city's brunch-goers often gravitate toward venues with indoor or semi-outdoor seating, welcoming the chance to bask in a little sunshine — something refreshing amidst Jakarta’s typically hectic indoor lifestyle. One standout brunch destination that captures this vibe effortlessly is Kilo Jakarta at ASHTA District 8. Nestled in the heart of SCBD, Kilo Jakarta combines stylish, cozy interiors with a relaxed ambiance, making it a top choice for those who want to escape without actually leaving the city.

Whether seated indoors or under the natural light of its semi-outdoor setting, brunch at Kilo is where city dwellers can take a breath, connect, and indulge in a curated escape from the weekday rush.

Among the exciting newcomers on Kilo’s Weekend Brunch menu, a few dishes truly stood out for their bold, flavour-forward profiles. The Gambas a la Szechuan was a knockout — juicy prawns layered over sourdough toast with a punchy garlic purée and black vinegar, finished with crispy prawn heads and a refreshing cucumber salad that added just the right crunch and balance. It’s indulgent yet clever.

The Miso Hummus also impressed with its chewy yet soft texture, and generous portion of grilled pita and crisp crudités — perfect for sharing or simply enjoying solo with a good cup of coffee.

Then you will be surprised by the Chilled Beef Soba Salad; the tender sous-vide beef, beetroot, and citrus vinaigrette create a light, vibrant bowl that’s ideal for Jakarta’s warm weekends.

And then there’s the Fish & Chips — familiar, yet unmistakably satisfying. The use of Barramundi elevates the dish, accompanied by perfectly crispy potatoes, tart apple cider vinegar, and a homemade malt vinegar spray that adds a refined finish.

For those leaning into comfort and nostalgia, Kilo brings back some of its beloved classics. Of course, we couldn’t be happier to see them again. The Beefy Mac & Cheese is pure indulgence: creamy, gooey, and packed with layers of flavour thanks to the rich beef ragout, savoury furikake, and that unexpected crunch from the tendon puff. It’s the kind of dish you don’t rush through — every bite feels like a warm hug, especially for cheese lovers.

Then there’s the Korean Fried Chicken & Waffles, a star that hits the sweet and savoury note just right. The chicken is crispy and juicy, coated in a sticky gochujang honey glaze that’s bold but balanced, resting atop a house-made waffle that’s crisp on the outside and fluffy inside.

No brunch feels quite complete without pancakes, and Kilo Jakarta absolutely delivers with their Strawberry Pancake — a dish that feels both indulgent and beautifully balanced. Made from their house-made batter, the pancake itself is perfectly fluffy, with just the right hint of sweetness. What sets it apart is the basil custard, adding a fragrant, almost herbaceous twist that keeps things interesting and far from ordinary. The generous drizzle of maple syrup ties everything together with that classic, comforting sweetness. It’s the kind of plate you might order to share but secretly hope no one else touches.

Brunch at Kilo Jakarta wouldn’t be complete without a cocktail (or three) in hand — and their Weekend Brunch Special Cocktails lineup is honestly reason enough to linger a little longer at the table. The Tamarillo Fizz, a playful and creamy concoction that delightful — the terong belanda syrup gave it a tropical, tart edge, while the red velvet powder on top added a fun, almost dessert-like finish. It’s rich yet refreshing, a brunch cocktail with personality.

The Mimosa de Maracuya felt like sunshine in a glass — a crisp mix of prosecco, fresh orange, and markisa syrup that was both zesty and uplifting. But if you’re craving a bit of a caffeine kick in your glass, look no further than the Kilo Carajillo. Think boozy iced coffee with a soul. The combo of orange liqueur, Irish cream, and bold coffee, finished with a dusting of cinnamon and a few coffee beans, made it the ultimate post-meal sip.

The Kilo Weekend Brunch is your new reason to slow down and savour the weekend, available every Saturday and Sunday from 9 AM to 3 PM. It’s designed for unhurried mornings, where time stretches gently between warm sunlight, relaxed conversations, and thoughtfully crafted plates. So go ahead, clear your morning schedule and discover how slow weekends should taste.
