La Patisserie at Sheraton Surabaya is Ready to Welcome Guests with New Look and New Creations

Sheraton Surabaya Hotel & Towers is ready to welcome guests with its gorgeous new look after two years of upgrades. The five-star hotel is now offering a fresh and modern look to create an immersive stay experience.

The upgrades at Sheraton Surabaya Hotel & Towers include a revamp of all guestrooms and suites, food and beverage outlets, public spaces, and, last but not least, ballroom and spa facilities that are scheduled to finish early next year. La Patisserie, the hotel’s cake shop that has been operating for 20 years, has also become part of the transformation.

Relaunched in mid-2022, the cake and pastry shop is ready to welcome guests with its revamped look. La Patisserie now features a larger area and a new premium lounge section with plush sofas and seats for guests to unwind while enjoying the exciting menu.

“With the increasing demand for a bespoke experience, like what La Patisserie has to offer, we felt that it was a great momentum to relocate La Patisserie to a new, more convenient location and update our menu. This expansion is intended to bring a space for our guests to comfortably enjoy our opulent cakes, desserts, and tea selections,” said Masri, General Manager Complex Sheraton Surabaya Hotel & Towers and Four Points by Sheraton Surabaya.

La Patisserie is not only offering an upgraded look but also a new scrumptious menu. Some of its signature menus include pralines, artisanal cookies, custom-made cakes as well as pastry products that are trending at the moment like Kouign Amann and Pain au Chocolat. The iconic cake shop also offers Surabaya’s signature cake: Spiku or Lapis Surabaya. In creating the products, the culinary team of La Patisserie deliberately uses less sugar to provide lighter taste and better choices for health conscious customers. For instance, instead of using full white sugar, Le Patisserie’s macaroons and pralines maximize the use of natural sweeteners that it gets from fruit-ingredients.

The person behind the delectable pastries and cakes at La Patisserie is Yusman Syamsudin, a seasoned pastry chef at Sheraton Surabaya Hotel & Towers. Yusman brings with him his extensive experience working at various five-star hotels in Dubai, Maldives, and Bahrain—where he won a gold medal at the Black Box Chef Guild competition. Some of Yusman’s outstanding creations for La Patisserie are Crunchy Chocolate Cake, Raspberry Pistachio Delice, and Mango Fashion Fruit.

With a new and interesting concept in mind, La Patisserie also offers Teagather a unique culinary experience. The afternoon tea offers a selection of desserts and savory snacks served on an Instagram-friendly one-meter-tall serving shelf. The exceptional presentation idea is the first in Surabaya and is only available at Sheraton Surabaya Hotel & Towers.

In a mission to keep being creative and to bring an immersive transformation, La Patisserie has also launched its own perfume called Begin. The fragrance contains white florals, tuberose, gardenia, and warm amber notes with a twist of honey to balance the warm characteristics of wood and amber. Begin is also used as the air freshener at La Patisserie to evoke a signature scent of the store as well as to create a nostalgic note for guests.

With its new design, premium lounge, and tantalizing menu, La Patisserie is confident to continue its status as a gorgeous rendezvous place in the heart of Surabaya that has been around for more than two decades. With direct access to Tunjungan Plaza, one of the biggest shopping centers in East Java, the legendary cake shop is easily accessible for guests.

Welcoming Christmas with La Patisserie

La Patisserie offers a collection of exciting hampers for guests to welcome the festive season. According to Birgitta Mone, Director of Marketing Communication – Complex Sheraton Surabaya Hotel & Towers and Four Points by Sheraton Surabaya at Tunjungan Plaza, from year

to year, there is a significantly increasing number of lunch and dinner reservations for people to gather and exchange gifts. Seeing that interesting fact, Sheraton Surabaya is inspired to release a special simple present for the gift exchange tradition.

“This year, we are not only focusing on the big hampers for family or colleagues but also present an option for individuals who want to do the gift exchange tradition at our restaurant and lounge. They can buy the gift here to save them the hassle,” said Birgitta.

The hotel offers a gift package with various items, from praline to cookies to housemade tea’ wedang uwuh’ to macaroon to Begin, La Patisserie’s signature perfume, with prices starting from IDR 159,000 nett per package.

This year, Sheraton Surabaya also debuted a collaboration with local, renowned cosmetic brand, Azarine, to create a unique hamper titled La Patisserie x Azarine Holiday Hampers. “We create this one-of-a-kind hamper not only to cater to those who celebrate Christmas, but also people who celebrate the year-end holiday. We see Azarine as a local brand that goes global, which is in line with Sheraton’s brand identity as The World Gathering Place. Our mission is to be known globally and welcome all kinds of guests to gather at our place,” uttered Birgitta.

Azarine is one of Indonesia’s top five local skincare brands, focusing on providing high-quality products per the Indonesian Food and Drug Authority’s standard. Azarine was founded in 2002 and kept innovating to meet the market’s needs for great skincare products. Some of Azarine’s best-selling items in Indonesia are Hydrasoothe Sunscreen Gel, serum, and Azarine tone.

Azarine is also expanding to the global market through a collaboration with the international comics and film company Marvel.

The hampers will consist of Azarine skincare products, low-calorie cookies, a bottle of bath salt, and a Christmas ornament. Each hamper will come in a beautiful rattan box with a stunning twilly fabric.

Sheraton Surabaya: The Journey of Transformation

This year is the year of transformation for Sheraton Surabaya. After moving and expanding La Patisseries in July, the five-star hotel has also finished upgrading the lobby. After two months of lobby renovation, Sheraton Surabaya revealed the lobby’s new look in early November. The reception area is now sporting grey and brown hues with a dark brown palette gracing the mezzanine floor’s balcony. The outdated brown-colored, long reception table is now gone and replaced with three modern cubicles with white accents.

Opened in 1996, Sheraton Surabaya now proudly operates with a revamped look. The hotel’s three room categories, Premium, Club, and Suite, now come with a new look. While the other three: Deluxe, Royal Suite, and Presidential Suite, will finish the transformation in 2023. “Early next year, we will reveal our new ballroom, spa, and fitness center,” said Masri. “In the third semester next year, we aim to finish 80 percent of all renovation, and we will finish the Deluxe, Royal Suite, and Presidential Suite soon after.”
