Renaissance Bali Uluwatu Resort & Spa is proud to announce its official certification by Green Globe, a globally recognized standard for sustainable tourism. This milestone reflects the hotel’s dedication to minimizing environmental impact, supporting local communities, and preserving cultural heritage.

The certification aligns with Marriott International’s global sustainability and social impact platform, Serve360: Doing Good in Every Direction, which guides properties to make a meaningful contribution across four key areas: Nurture Our World, Sustain Responsible Operations, Empower Through Opportunity, and Welcome All & Advance Human Rights.

“Sustainability is part of our everyday mindset, from how we manage resources to how we share our local culture with guests,” said Martin Ehlers, General Manager. “This certification is a meaningful milestone, but more importantly, it’s a reflection of the teamwork and passion behind every initiative we’ve put in place, guided by our commitment to Serve 360 and doing good in every direction.

Key Sustainability Initiatives

At the heart of the hotel’s sustainability efforts is a strong focus on resource efficiency, local engagement, and cultural preservation. Environmentally, the hotel has implemented in-house composting to turn organic garden waste into nutrient-rich fertilizer for its landscaping, and has introduced rainwater harvesting systems for irrigation, both helping to reduce waste and conserve freshwater. Energy-saving measures such as LED lighting, motion sensors, and variable speed drivers have also been adopted across operations to improve energy efficiency.

In support of marine conservation, the hotel actively participates in coral planting at Roosterfish Beach Club in the Pandawa beach, a hands-on initiative that restores biodiversity in nearby coastal waters while involving the local community and guests in ocean care. On the cultural front, the hotel invites guests to connect with Bali’s heritage through interactive programs like Tri Datu bracelet making and showcases of Double Ikat

weaving, one of Indonesia’s rarest textile arts. These initiatives not only support local artisans but also foster respectful cultural understanding among international visitors.
