Serene Sojourn: Our Tranquil Escape at Unagi  Wooden Villas by Emana

Day 1: Arrival and Culinary Delight

Upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed by the attentive staff and checked into our Deluxe Wooden Room, just steps away from the villa's iconic infinity pool. The room, crafted using locally sourced materials like teak, bengkirai woods, and natural stones, exuded a cozy yet eco-friendly ambiance.

For the first night dinner, we headed to Wajik Restaurant by Ely's Kitchen, a small yet comfy open-air dining space situated just across the villa's lobby. Wajik serves arrays of tantalizing dishes, way above your average villa restaurant. Every dish on the menu is meticulously crafted and prepared with engaging presentation; from classic international favorites such as burger and spaghetti to rendition of Indonesian goodness such as satay and soto ayam.

The appetizers set the tone for the evening: the crispy Fish For Bite, paired with a house-made tomato sauce, was tender inside and crunchy outside, while the Thai Prawn Salad, with poached prawns and a chili lime dressing, offered a sweet, sour burst of flavors. The main courses were equally impressive. The Bebek Menari, an iconic Ubud crispy duck dish, was succulent and juicy, while the Smoked Pasta Carbonara delighted with its creamy yolk and bacon sauce. Desserts were a highlight, with the Bali Chocolate and Banana Cake providing a delightful end to the meal. The Sparkling Brewed Ice Tea and nourished blend were refreshing companions to our dining experience.

Day 2: Cherishing Ubud's Serenity

Waking up to the tranquil sounds of nature, we enjoyed the compact yet efficient room setting of our villa, with a king-size bed directly overlooking the front door and terrace. Ordering breakfast from Wajik Restaurant, we indulged in the Big Bite Brekky; assorted goodness of sausage, ham and vegetables, and Sweet From Kitchen; which consist of pancake, coconut custard, strawberry, banana slice and vanilla ice cream, both complemented by fresh fruits and croissants.

The second day Lunch at Wajik marks another culinary journey. The Chicken Redolent, a shredded grilled chicken breast tossed with chili shallot lemongrass, was a perfect starter. The mains, Sate Ayam Apuh and Prawn Delight Bowl, were standout dishes. The chicken satay, served with aromatic rice and peanut sauce, was smokey and succulent, while the Prawn Delight Bowl combined buttery prawns with fragrant garlic butter rice for a truly delightful flavor.

In the afternoon, we enjoyed a serene Afternoon Tea session by the resort's infinity pool, overlooking lush rice fields. The villa also offers various cultural activities, such as Canangsari making, adding to the authentic Balinese experience during the guest's blissful stay.

Beef Rendang

After a pleasant evening, we're off to Wajik once again for our dinner feast. Crispy Chicken Dumpling starter led to the main courses of Opulent Burger and Beef Rendang. The burger was a high-selling favorite with double melted cheese and BBQ sauce, while the Beef Rendang, an Indonesian classic, was tender and flavorful. The fresh juices, Sunshine Beet Boost and Crisp Green Oasis, provided refreshing and healthy drinks to complement our dine.

Returning to our villa, we were touched by the personalized touch of leaves arranged to form 'Good Night' on our bed, along with a sweet note from the staff. This gesture highlighted the dedication of the staff to go the extra mile in providing exceptional service.

Day 3: A Heartfelt Farewell

Our final morning began with a delightful in-room breakfast on the wooden terrace, basking in the warm tropical sun and cool breeze for the last time. For lunch, we opted to savor Wajik's Indonesian classics. The Kuah Ikan Bali, with its flavorful broth and tender fish fillet, and the Soto Ayam, a turmeric chicken-based broth, were both comforting and delicious. The traditional dessert, Dadar Gulung, with its grated coconut and palm sugar filling, provided a sweet end to our meal.
