First Impressions: Miami Meets Melasti

We were captivated from the moment we walked into Uma Beach House. Inspired by Bali’s traditional 'Gelungan' ceremonial headdress, the architecture is an elegant blend of cultural roots and modern flair. Think: curvy rooflines, natural textures, and a wide, open structure that lets the ocean breeze flow right in. From plush indoor couch to the sun-soaked terrace—every seat comes with a front-row view of the sparkling infinity pool or the dramatic limestone cliffs of Melasti.

The venue's interior vibe hits that sweet spot between laid-back and luxe. Warm wooden tones, soft olive green accents, and hints of washed-out pink give the space a cozy yet contemporary edge. It’s the kind of place where you can show up in a breezy dress or boardshorts and still feel like you’re somewhere a little bit special.

Flavors That Pop: Nikkei Cuisine Done Right

Now, onto the food—because this is the part where Uma really shines. The menu is a bold, delicious fusion of Japanese and Peruvian flavors, known as Nikkei cuisine. It's a rare find in Bali, and trust us, it works like magic.

White Fish Ceviche

We kicked things off light with the Tempe Bowl from their Salads & Bowls section. It’s a healthy stunner—plaga lettuce, winged beans, kaffir lime leaves, and tempe drizzled with a tangy pomegranate dressing, all served in a coconut-shell bowl. Refreshing, zesty, and guilt-free.

Then came the White Fish Ceviche—and wow, what a knockout. Creamy, citrusy barramundi tossed with coconut lime and fresh cilantro, served with golden sweet corn chips for that just-right crunch. We were this close to ordering another round, but were recommended to try the UMA Seafood Platter, the beach house’s best-selling signature dish—and rightly so. A glorious spread of baby lobster, prawns, oysters, scallops, tuna, salmon, sour cream, chili lime, and salsa, it’s a raw bar dream served seaside, with every bite as impressive as the view.

Seafood Platter

For mains, we couldn’t resist the scrumptious Angus Beef from their Land & Sea lineup. Perfectly charcoal-grilled, topped with vibrant aji amarillo sauce, and served with tender Bedugul asparagus and crispy potato wedges (though grilled veg is a lighter alternative). And for seafood lovers, don’t miss the spicy Gambas Al Ajillo grilled prawn, tender octopus, or even the mighty T-bone steak if you’re feeling extra indulgent.

Save Room for Dessert

Volcan de Chocolate

Yes, we were full—but how could we say no to a Volcan de Chocolate? This gooey chocolate fondant literally erupts when your spoon hits the center, spilling warm, dark chocolate lava onto the plate. Paired with a scoop of basil-kissed kemangi ice cream, it’s sweet, earthy, and just the right amount of surprising. Think of it as the final *fireworks* to an already dazzling meal.

Sip, Chill, Repeat

Of course, no beach house experience is complete without something to sip on. Uma Beach House delivers with an impressive list of artisanal cocktails, fine wines, and mocktails if you’re skipping the booze. We opted for the Nuperol Spritz, a bright, bitter, citrusy mocktail with tangerine, orange juice, lavender, and tonic—absolute sunshine in a glass. Oh, and a fresh whole coconut on the side? Yes please.

Uma Beach House offers more than just another Bali's beach club—it’s a full-on vibe. From the design to the food to that front-row seat to Melasti Beach’s natural drama, every detail is thoughtfully curated to make you feel like you’ve discovered something special. It’s the kind of place where you can relax with your feet in the sand, toast a glass of something fizzy, and watch the sun paint the cliffs gold.

So if you’re looking for what’s new and delicious in Bali, you’ve just found it. Uma Beach House. Melasti magic, served with a twist.
