‘Anthology of Indonesian Music Volume II’ Returns With A Shout to The Apurva Kempinski Bali
The 'Anthology Music of Indonesia' is organized under the umbrella of the Jakarta Arts Council and brings together influential musicians such as Aksan Sjuman, Anto Hoed, Anusirwan, Otto Sidharta, Aisha Sudiarso-Pletscher, Anursiwan, and Budi Utomo Prabowo. They classify the development of music in Indonesia and form Indonesia's historical and musical bible. These esteemed figures have composed two series of musical bibles: 'Anthology of Indonesian Classical Music: Vocal and Piano Seriosa,' formed in 2013, and 'Anthology of Indonesian Music: Jazz and Popular Music,' crafted in 2017.
These musical bibles offer a comprehensive narrative of Indonesian music, giving a broad perspective on its development over the course of history. Guests at The Apurva Kempinski Bali can also explore the musical bible of 'Anthology Music of Indonesia' through a special performance by the artist in residence, Truedy, who brings these musical notes to life every Saturday from 4 pm to 6 pm in the resort's Pendopo Lobby.
'Anthology of Indonesian Music' initiated as a book by Aksan Sjuman. The highly acclaimed musician joined forces with legendary jazzer Indra Lesmana and esteemed architect/designer/music enthusiast Raul Renanda to lead an encouraging talk show and intimate music performance by a gang of talented young Balinese local musicians.
The event started with an interactive press conference with Bali local media and Jakarta media via zoom, hosted with Danti Yuliandari as the Director of Marketing and Communications of The Apurva Kempinski Bali. Then, after a swift break filled with free-flowing tapas, wines and cocktails, the event immediately took off with a performance by the young musicians: multitalented jazz-and-pop ecosystem performer, teacher and arranger Nesia Ardi steps onto the stage to bring over ten songs, together with Kevin Suwandhi the pianist, Gustu Brahmanta the drummer, Ucok the bassist, and Truedy the resort’s artist in residence. In between the repertoires, Indra, Aksan and Raul reveal the historical background of each song.
Overall, the 'Anthology of Indonesian Music' celebration at The Apurva Kempinski Bali is an incredible opportunity to experience the beauty of Indonesian music and learn about its history and development. Once again, Apurva Kempinski has proven their utmost dedication to introduce the magnificent Indonesia art and culture for the masses.
