Gudeg Pawon traces its roots back to 1958. Back then, Bu Prapto Widarso sold her gudeg from place to place, from Gondomanan, the terminal, to Pasar Sentul every three o'clock in the morning. Initially, loyal customers were sellers and buyers in the market who chose gudeg as their breakfast before starting their day. Due to the enthusiastic customers who would follow her home if Bu Prapto hadn't arrived at her stall yet, in 2000 she decided to sell from her home kitchen.
