Mie Akup opens a new chapter in Bandung with its Gegerkalong branch, offering a more modern space while preserving its nostalgic charm. With an…

There are some places in Bandung that don’t need an introduction—Mie Akup is one of them. It wasn’t until a recent craving that I realized how long it had been since my last visit, which eventually brought me back—this time to their newest branch in Gegerkalong.

This branch comes with a more modern setting, yet the warmth of this legendary spot can still be felt. The concept may feel familiar—kopitiam-style spaces are everywhere in Bandung these days—but the comforting flavors and long-standing legacy of Mie Akup bring a sense of nostalgia that feels unmistakably its own.

Dining Area - Mie Akup

One thing that immediately stands out at the Gegerkalong branch is the open kitchen, which adds a lively touch to the space. Watching the dishes being prepared makes the experience feel more intimate and reassuring. The menu here is also noticeably more extensive than at other branches—exclusive to this location—ranging from classic noodle dishes to heavier mains like Nasi Goreng Lapchiong, Nasi Goreng Kornet, and even Nasi Tim, making it easy to come here whether you’re craving something light or a proper, filling meal.

Menu Selections

Yamin Bakso is always my go-to, and it never disappoints. The flavors are consistently comforting, familiar in the best way possible. We also ordered one of the nasi goreng dishes to complete the lunch, and by the end of the meal, we were left with nothing but a very full and satisfied stomach.

Side Dish Menu - Mie Akup

Speaking of the wide-ranging menu, have you ever heard of Puding Jahe? It may not be the most common pairing, but that’s exactly what makes it interesting. What makes the experience even more exciting is the way it’s served right in front of us—from scratch. A glass of ginger liquid is placed on the table, followed by hot milk being poured in, then a small hourglass is given so we know exactly when to wait the ten minutes needed for the pudding to set. It’s simple, interactive, and oddly satisfying to watch.

With such a diverse menu, it’s clear that Mie Akup appeals to all generations. In the dessert section alone, there’s something for every preference—from the refreshing Peach Gum Akup to the indulgent Ubi Brulee, where the earthy sweetness of purple sweet potato meets a crisp brulee topping, served with a scoop of ice cream on the side for balance.

Mie Akup Gegerkalong

This visit reminded me why Mie Akup continues to hold its place in Bandung’s food scene. The Gegerkalong branch doesn’t try to change what already works—instead, it expands on it, offering more variety, more comfort, and more reasons to come back, whether you’re revisiting an old favorite or discovering something new for the first time.
