FLOR

FLOR JDW

Taking inspiration from two Indonesian folklores, FLOR introduces two special desserts for Jakarta Dessert Week. First, it's "Toba Temptation". In the heart of Sumatra, the shimmering waters of Danau Toba hold age-old tales of passion, creation, and transformation. The strawberry mousse and the coulis, infused with fresh strawberries and basil, embody the lake's essence and mirror the depths of its folklore. Second, "Sangkuriang's Secret". In the Javanese legends, Tangkuban Perahu stands as a monumental testament to love, sacrifice, and the raw power of nature. The fusion of coconut and lemon cheesecake evokes the volcanic origins of Tangkuban Perahu, a fiery blend of emotions and power. The tropical confit of mango, passionfruit, and vanilla paints the landscape that thrives around the volcano. The crowning diced mango is reminiscent of the bright bursts of life and rebirth that echo the ever-renewing cycle of the legend.

Park Hyatt Jakarta

Park Hyatt Jakarta JDW

The Japanese folklore of Tsuki No Usagi, or the Moon Rabbit, traces back to a Buddhist tale about an old man from the moon visiting Earth. Upon his visit, various animals offer him food; while the rabbit, unable to find a suitable offering, leaps into a fire to offer himself as a meal. The old man, revealing himself to be Sakra, the ruler of gods, immortalizes the rabbit's selfless act by drawing his likeness on the moon. Inspired by this touching tale, Park Hyatt Jakarta presents a dessert featuring the popular Japanese flavors of matcha and red bean, encapsulating the essence of the Moon Rabbit's virtue and kindness. "Matchazuki" tastes Matcha-flavored entremets with black sesame sponge, red bean, and light brown sugar reduction.
