Archipelago, the largest hotel operator in Southeast Asia, continues its commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities through the Archipelago Cancer Care Initiative (ACCI), which was held for the first time in Yogyakarta in collaboration with the Yayasan Kasih Anak Kanker Indonesia (YKAKI) on January 30, 2025 which is supported by 7 hotels under Archipelago.
The Archipelago Cancer Care Initiative has previously been successfully carried out in four major cities: Banjarmasin, Surabaya, Balikpapan, and Jakarta. Archipelago, along with its network of hotels, has actively supported children battling cancer at the Kasih Anak Kanker Foundation in Yogyakarta through donations and a variety of interactive and entertaining activities.
The fundraising event with Archipelago’s hotels took place from December 27, 2024, to January 29, 2025. Activities included fundraising efforts inviting both hotel staff and guests to participate in making donations, as well as the Sunday Morning Activity for the public on January 19, 2025, where visitors could purchase hotel products such as food and beverages. All proceeds from these events were entirely donated to the Yayasan Kasih Anak Kanker Indonesia (YKAKI). The aid provided included cash donations, goodie bags containing school supplies, drawing materials, and eating utensils for each child.
"We are truly happy to be able to support children battling cancer and help bring a glimmer of hope into their lives. Providing care and attention to these children and their families is incredibly important, especially for those who may feel alone during such difficult times. This foundation is doing extraordinary work, and they rely on external support to continue making a positive impact. Therefore, we are thrilled to contribute in helping provide the support they need. Our hope is that these efforts will bring joy and comfort to the children and families who need it most," said John Flood, CEO of Archipelago.
In addition to the donation handover, this year's ACCI Yogyakarta was filled with various fun activities, such as a magic show by "Om Badut" and games that encouraged children battling cancer at the Yayasan Kasih Anak Kanker Indonesia (YKAKI). The children were allowed to get creative by making sandwiches, guided by the Executive Chefs from participating Archipelago hotels. Not only that, the Food and Beverage teams from the Archipelago hotels also invited the children to join in making healthy, nutritious juices together.
This event was organized to showcase Archipelago's dedication to helping and inspiring those in need, as well as to encourage the public to support the cancer-stricken children's community.
