Garrya Bianti Yogyakarta Retains One MICHELIN Key 2026,
Continuing a Hospitality Journey Rooted in the Richness of Yogyakarta’s Culture
A hotel may offer beautiful spaces, good service, and comprehensive facilities. However, for the MICHELIN Guide, a truly memorable stay is shaped by something more holistic: how a place has character, connects with the destination, and creates an experience that feels complete.
This year, Garrya Bianti Yogyakarta has once again been awarded One MICHELIN Key by the MICHELIN Guide 2026, retaining the recognition it received the previous year. Overall, 47 hotels and resorts in Indonesia received MICHELIN Keys this year.
The MICHELIN Guide evaluates hotels based on five universal criteria: excellence in architecture and interior design; quality and consistency of service; comfort and maintenance; the character and personality of the hotel; its connection to the destination; as well as the suitability of the overall experience with the price paid.
Interestingly, all five aspects have found relevance in Garrya Bianti Yogyakarta’s approach from the very beginning.
Its architecture combines contemporary forms with elements rooted in Yogyakarta, including the use of brick inspired by Kotagede. Meanwhile, the stay experience is built through a more personal and thoughtful approach, in line with the philosophy of minimalist living, Asian wellbeing sensibility, and designing spaces as places for contemplation.

The connection to the destination is reflected through experiences that bring guests closer to Yogyakarta’s culture, nature, cuisine, and everyday life. From wellbeing practices to activities based on local culture and community, these experiences are designed not merely to introduce a place, but to give guests the space to experience it.
At the same time, various sustainability initiatives and collaborations with the surrounding community form part of how Garrya Bianti Yogyakarta understands and embraces its presence in Yogyakarta.
“We receive this recognition with deep gratitude. Retaining One MICHELIN Key serves as a reminder that hospitality is a journey that continues to evolve—about maintaining consistency, continuing to learn, and remaining attentive to the details that matter,” said Ratih Handayani, General Manager of Garrya Bianti Yogyakarta.
For Garrya Bianti, this recognition is not an endpoint. Instead, it is part of a journey to continue growing while remaining rooted in the place, culture, and values that shape the experience within it.
