In 2026, the Indonesian tourism industry will enter a new phase, known as regenerative hospitality. Regenerative hospitality is a concept where industry players not only minimize negative impacts but also actively restore and rebuild the surrounding socio-economic ecosystem.

In this regenerative hospitality phase, industry players must also address the curiosity of modern travelers who are more critical in choosing their accommodations while traveling. They seek tangible evidence of how a business truly contributes to humanity and the overall well-being of the environment.

This has forced the hotel industry to undertake major transformations, from energy management to supply chain transparency. Garrya Bianti Yogyakarta is taking a stand by addressing this global challenge.

Garrya Bianti Yogyakarta integrates local values into its hotel operations, such as strengthening food sovereignty and restoring the economy at the grassroots level through ethical farming initiatives. As a concrete manifestation and part of its broader strategy, Garrya Bianti Yogyakarta recently inaugurated its third cage-free farm in Seyegan, Sleman.

This project is the result of a strategic collaboration with the Animal Husbandry Development Center, Faculty of Animal Husbandry, Gadjah Mada University (UGM). Through an investment of IDR 160 million, Garrya Bianti facilitated 24 women members of the Tangguh Women's Farmers Group (KWT Tangguh) to become independent farmers.

"Businesses shouldn't stand alone as ivory towers. At Garrya Bianti Yogyakarta, we adopt a model where hotel growth directly restores community well-being," explained Ridwan Heriyadi, General Manager of Garrya Bianti Yogyakarta.

"From a technical perspective, we provide support so that the KWT women can manage chicken health management and maintain strict biosecurity. With a cage-free system, we're not only talking about ethics, but also the quality of healthy egg products for consumers," added Dr. Ir. Muhsin Al Anas from the PPT Faculty of Animal Husbandry, UGM.

This concrete action impacts three sectors simultaneously: Economic (the hotel acts as a permanent off-taker, guaranteeing income for villagers), Social (empowering women's farming groups to increase women's role in the family economy), and Ethics & Quality (technical assistance from Gadjah Mada University (UGM) ensures high animal welfare standards, resulting in healthier food products for guests).

The inauguration in Seyegan strengthens the partnership ecosystem previously established with KWT Rejo Arum and KWT Jaya Mandiri Abadi. By integrating the community into the hotel system, Garrya Bianti not only sells rooms but also offers a narrative of local commitment.

This model demonstrates that by 2026, tourism competitiveness will no longer lie solely in five-star facilities, but rather in a hotel's ability to regenerate alongside its environment. Through this initiative, Garrya Bianti Yogyakarta is positioning itself as a catalyst for tourism that is more humane and sustainably protects nature.
