As part of the event, Mövenpick Hotel Surabaya City collaborated with Ibu Smart Indonesia Kuat (ISIK) by Prita Foundation to lead a batik-making workshop using reusable bed linen. The chosen motif for this special occasion was the Beras Wutah, a pattern deeply rooted in the Sidoarjo region, symbolizing abundance, tranquility, and prosperity. In addition to the workshop, ISIK adorned the hotel’s lobby with beautiful batik creations featuring this signature motif.

Toat Edi Wijaya, Cluster General Manager of Mövenpick Hotel Surabaya City, Mercure Surabaya Manyar, and ibis Surabaya Tidar, expressed enthusiasm for the celebration. "We are thrilled to celebrate Batik Day through the KarnavALL Batik Indonesia initiative. This event connects tradition with contemporary experiences, allowing our guests to engage with Indonesia’s culture in a meaningful way," Wijaya said. He added that the event also supports local communities and small businesses by showcasing their expertise.

The use of reusable bed linen for batik-making aligns with Mövenpick’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program, which focuses on sustainability and reducing environmental impact. By repurposing materials, the hotel not only showcases traditional art but also promotes eco-friendly practices in the hospitality industry.

The celebration extended beyond art, with Mövenpick Hotel Surabaya City serving a variety of batik-themed food and drinks. From batik-inspired roll cakes and pralines to drinks garnished with batik motifs, the event offered guests a taste of local culture, combining visual artistry with culinary creativity.
