Earth Hour, known as one of WWF's global campaigns as the world's largest conservation organization, invites individuals, communities, businesses, and governments worldwide to express their concern for climate change and the future of nature by turning off lights and electronic devices that are not in use for 1 hour (20:30 - 21:30 local time). The Earth Hour movement this year took place on March 23, 2024, with the key message #BiggestHourForEarth and "Give an Hour for Earth" with six principles drawn from Earth Hour; Food, Fitness and Wellness, Entertainment, Arts and Creativity, Sustainability, and Nature. This movement also coincides with the month of Ramadan in Indonesia. In line with this theme, Whiz Luxe Hotel Spazio Surabaya is committed to participating in this Movement with the theme "#Suro4Earth," where "Suro" has three meanings: the first day in the Javanese calendar, the first Muharram in the Islamic calendar, and in the Makassar language, it means "to do something," where "Suro for Earth" can be interpreted as "doing something for the earth."
"This year's Earth Hour celebration is the first for Whiz Luxe since the hotel opened on May 5, 2023. Many activities are carried out, starting from inviting guests to participate in the symbolic act of turning off lights for just 1 hour. Starting from 20:30 to 21:30 in their respective rooms, then all lights in the hotel area will be turned off and, instead of lighting, the hotel's public areas will be beautifully decorated with candlelight. Guests are also invited to the lobby during the blackout to enjoy live music performances by hotel staff, followed by admiring the beauty of the art exhibition featuring works by Surabaya painters who are members of the Garis Gathuk community, and enjoying "glow-in-the-dark" drinks and snacks that are complimentary," said Camelia A., Marketing Communications Manager of Whiz Luxe Hotel Spazio Surabaya.
This year's Earth Hour celebration at Whiz Luxe Hotel Spazio is attended by in-house guests, painters from the Garis Gathuk community, and media colleagues.
