The celebration involved not only the hotel’s internal team but also invited guests to join in the ceremony held at the hotel’s courtyard. The spirit of unity was clearly visible as participants donned traditional costumes from various regions across Indonesia—from Sumatra to Papua—as a tribute to the nation’s rich cultural diversity.

Litania U., Marketing Communications & Public Relations of MORAZEN Surabaya, stated, “We continue this annual tradition of wearing Nusantara traditional clothing. Each individual’s approach differs; some already own traditional outfits at home that they only wear once a year, some rent, and others purchase directly. This activity is also seen as a way to strengthen team solidarity at MORAZEN Hotel through the preparations outside of our routine activities.”

After the flag ceremony, the event continued with a tug-of-war competition. Dyla J., Director of Human Resources and General Affairs at MORAZEN Surabaya, explained, “In this competition, each team is required to place a female participant at the front, symbolizing the ongoing spirit of R.A. Kartini’s fight for women’s emancipation. We want to highlight that the women participants are just as strong as the men.”

One of the guests from room 1218, Betty, who participated in the ceremony, shared a positive experience. “This morning, I was on my way to pick up a package delivered by a friend at the hotel lobby. I was surprised to see it so quiet with only one staff member around. It turned out everyone was preparing for the ceremony, and the reception staff kindly invited me to join. I was really happy, as the last time I participated in a flag ceremony was nine years ago when I was a student,” she said.
