Presented by Marriott International, the event highlights the artistry of Chef Lee Keen Suaan, Executive Chef of Penang Marriott Hotel, who is renowned for bringing Malaysia’s diverse food heritage to life. Guests will enjoy a curated buffet that reflects the nation’s multicultural roots, with dishes inspired by Malay, Chinese, Indian, and indigenous influences. Each recipe tells a story of migration, tradition, and innovation, turning the dining table into a stage of history and flavour.

Chef Lee will prepare timeless dishes such as Wagyu Beef Satay, marinated with aromatic spices and served with charred rice cake, cucumber, shallots, and peanut sauce; the iconic “Penang” Mee Curry, rich with coconut broth, fresh prawns, cockles, and house-made chili paste; the smoky “Percik” Chicken, glazed with coconut milk; and the signature Sago Dessert made with pandan-infused pearls, gula Melaka, and sweet jackfruit. These dishes not only bring the essence of Malaysia to Surabaya but also embody the warmth of sharing and togetherness.

For those who wish to take their culinary journey further, Chef Lee will also host an interactive cooking class, where participants can learn his signature recipes in a fun, hands-on session.

The official opening ceremony on 26 September will be attended by H.E. Dato’ Syed Mohamad Hasrin Tengku Hussin, Ambassador of Malaysia to Indonesia, and Mr. Hairi Mohd Yakzan, Director of Tourism Malaysia Jakarta. The evening will feature a plaque signing, Malaysian traditional dance performances, a live showcase by Malaysia’s famed Teh Tarik King, and cultural highlights that celebrate Malaysia’s artistic legacy.

Running in parallel with Malaysia Fair 2025 at Pakuwon Indah Mall Surabaya, this event supports the Visit Malaysia Year 2026 campaign under the theme Surreal Experiences. More than just a dining event, Malaysia Weekend is a cultural bridge between Indonesia and Malaysia, celebrating unity through food, stories, and shared traditions.
