This November marks a significant milestone for Hotel Ciputra World Surabaya as it celebrates its 10th anniversary on November 27, 2024. To commemorate a decade of excellence in luxury hospitality and exceptional service, the five-star hotel hosted a special culinary event, "The Gallery Take Over" featuring the renowned celebrity chef, Vindex Tengker, on November 22, 2024.

With the theme "East Meets West," this buffet-style event presented a unique fusion of classic European and authentic Indonesian cuisines, delighting culinary enthusiasts with a wide array of flavors. Chef Vindex Tengker, whose reputation extends internationally, collaborated with the hotel’s Executive Chef Dale to showcase a diverse menu inspired by their culinary expertise and heritage. Guests were treated to an evening filled with more than 35 exquisite dishes, starting with appetizers such as German potato salad, huzarensla, chicken and lyonnaise terrine, and fish terrine. The main course offered a rich variety of dishes, blending Western classics like banger sausage, chicken schnitzel, beef pot roast, and macaroni schotel with Indonesian favorites such as gulai ikan Aceh, nasi campur Manado, and the signature ayam cincane from Samarinda.
Adding an interactive touch, Chef Vindex and Chef Dale prepared select dishes live in the open kitchen, including iga konro bakar, sate Padang, cheese fondue, fresh pasta, and crêpes suzette à l’orange. The dessert selection featured elegant creations like pavlova, apple strudel pie, and an assortment of French pastries, ensuring a perfect ending to the memorable meal. The evening was elevated by the soulful melodies of The Key, a live band that performed throughout the event. Chef Vindex further added a personal touch to the celebration by greeting guests at their tables, creating a warm and intimate atmosphere.
Speaking about the event, Chef Vindex shared insights into the evolving culinary scene in Indonesia "The culinary world in Indonesia is currently growing rapidly. Beyond the popularity of European and Japanese cuisines, Indonesian food is gaining recognition with more creative and attractive plating. This event is a special collaboration that celebrates both East and West, perfectly timed with Hotel Ciputra World Surabaya’s 10th anniversary."
