The digital era and advancing technology have become inspirations for creating works of art. One such inspiration is robots—artificial intelligence created by humans to assist in various fields, such as in hospitals, restaurants, factories, households, and many others. This theme inspired Antonius Kho, an artist born in Klaten, who officially opened his art exhibition titled “LOVE ROBOT” at ARTSPACE, ARTOTEL TS Suites Surabaya, on Friday, September 6, 2024.

The exhibition features a total of 21 artworks made of thread and mixed media art, depicting cheerful and playful robot characters with soft colors, such as natural thread hues. These robot characters are created in various forms and variations based on the countries they represent, reflecting the cultural roots of nations like China, Japan, and Korea. The Asian robots are small and cute, quite different from those in America. The opening of this art exhibition began with a press conference with media partners. The session started with Antonius sharing his early interest in art and his journey as an artist. Antonius K., has extensive international art experience, ranging from 1984 to 2020. He has held solo exhibitions in various countries, including India, Germany, the Netherlands, France, the United States, South Korea, and China. This was followed by a Q&A session with the media.
Antonius K., the artist behind “LOVE ROBOT,” added, "The artworks on display are inspired by humanity and people. In developed countries, many robots are created and needed to assist human work in various fields. In the future, robots will replace humans in any job."
Rado G., Executive Assistant Manager of ARTOTEL TS Suites Surabaya, expressed, "We are very excited about this collaboration, and we hope to introduce the works of renowned Indonesian artists to art collectors and the general public, not just hotel guests."
The exhibition, running from September 6, 2024, to December 6, 2024, concluded with a house tour for visitors, allowing them to explore the artworks of the “LOVE ROBOT” exhibition.
